Chinese warships are now parked in Syrian water alongside Russian warships. Does this mean they have intervened on the side of Iran? Gulf states are not going to take it kindly and Russia get to keep China as client for oil and gas .

Good build up oil reserves for 120 days by buying cheap oil and gas. India should not enter the fray at this time.

It is a long haul. 120 day requirement of crude would mean at current and near term growth trends would mean around 45 to 50 million tonnes. Projects on hand for constructing additional storage facilities is about 8 million tonnes. See the link below.

KSA has two sources of revenue. One is Oil and other is religious tourism (religious terrorism is its opex not revenue). By unilaterally lowering the price of crude despite some of its OPEC partners' unwillingness, it has, for now, sacrificed some of the oil revenues. There are reports that it is running 20% budget deficit.
Now with Allah's Iron Rod events, its tourism revenue will also suffer and if Allah does have a strategy, we should see some more such events to teach faithfools some lessons.

A few theories put forward as reasons for KSA lowering oil prices:
- US producing more domestic oil thru fracking and reducing its dependency on KSA. By lowering prices below break-even prices of US oil producers, it is driving them out of business. This is bunkum theory.

-US and West in general, including some of the European partners at the behest of US, have imposed all kinds economic sanctions against Russia in their venture to make Ukraine, a pakistan of Russia. They have almost succeeded but not comprehensively. One theory behind the lower crude prices by KSA is extending these sanctions and thus pain causing bigger deficit in Russia's budget at a time when Russia is vulnerable. However, there are good reports that Russia is in a much better shape that what US/West/KSA like it to be. This theory is more stronger than the previous IMHO.

-Syria, a country that is being lynched by US/West and KSA and its Middle-East Jihadi partners for the past 5 years. The real motive behind Syria lynching is the new energy reserves found off the coast of Syria and possibly to knock Russia off its only base in Mediterranean before the final blow. Syria is also a link from ancient to modern, which I believe the West (UK in particular) has always chosen to break. KSA's calculation is that if it lowers prices now to a point where Russia feels acute pain, it will try to negotiate with KSA on Syria and buy peace in Ukraine as well as get prices, and therefore economy, back up. Net gain for KSA is Syria and gain for Russia is economy back up and Ukraine goes peaceful. Russia has proven to be more clever than KSA's assessment. Russia double down in Syria, found a great moral fig leave of fighting ISIS, challenged West to do whatever they like to do in Ukraine. KSA's strategy has almost backfired. If Russia is able to eliminate bulk of ISIS, one can be sure that KSA's game is over. That's where US/West are trying to now negotiate with Putin on behalf of KSA to preserve ISIS jihadi weapon. This is not 'War on Terrorism' but 'War with Terrorism' run by Obama/US/West and KSA. If and when there are causalities on the ISIS side, you know what will happen to oil prices. I prefer to go with this last theory over the previous two.

I pray allah for more Iron Rod events and bringing the whole shabang down...let this not be a black swan event but a black pig event.

U.S.-trained Syrian rebels gave equipment to Nusra: U.S. military - Fri Sep 25, 2015
Syrian rebels trained by the United States gave some of their equipment to the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front in exchange for safe passage, a U.S. military spokesman said on Friday, the latest blow to a troubled U.S. effort to train local partners to fight Islamic State militants.

The rebels surrendered six pick-up trucks and some ammunition, or about one-quarter of their issued equipment, to a suspected Nusra intermediary on Sept. 21-22 in exchange for safe passage, said Colonel Patrick Ryder, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command, in a statement.

"If accurate, the report of NSF members providing equipment to al Nusra Front is very concerning and a violation of Syria train and equip program guidelines," Ryder said, using an acronym for the rebels, called the New Syrian Forces.
The news was the most recent sign of trouble in a fledgling military effort to train fighters to take on the Islamic State militant group in Syria{This is an open admission that they are aiding terrorists}, where a 4-1/2-year civil war has killed about 250,000 people and caused nearly half of Syria's prewar population of 23 million to flee.

Putin's play in Syria is part of a bigger plan: Bloomberg View
Russia's interests in Syria are different. The once-close historical ties between the Soviet Union and Baathist Syria have been attenuated since the fall of communism, when Russian funding for its erstwhile Middle Eastern proxy dried up. Enough connection remains to give Putin the idea of re-engaging with Syria. But Russia has no fundamental strategic interest in Assad or Syria. Putin is simply taking advantage of a target of opportunity. {load of bs}

From this analysis it follows that Putin is increasing support for Assad in order to use the possibility of a brokered peace as a bargaining chip in his troubled relationship with the West. That in turn raises two rather crude, yet all-important, questions: Could Putin deliver? And if he could, would the price (involving Ukraine) be worth it for the U.S. and Europe?
This article goes after the second theory in my above post which shrugs off the real issue as to why Jihadi govts of middle east and Israel are so deep in Syria.

Some may find it interesting and for later reference:
Contribution of Hajj and Umrah Pilgrimage ( Religious Tourism) in Saudi Arabian Economy - 2014
Perhaps no country in the world can match the revenue generated by tourism as in KSA. It is estimated that Haj and Umrah taken together contribute more than 20 per cent of non-oil Gross Development Product (GDP) of the Kingdom. It is further estimated that this income comprises about seven per cent of the KSA’s total GDP.

To be sure, the statistics reflect the multiplier effect on the economy, as every riyal spent brings about four additional riyals. Business reports conclude that Saudi tourism, especially the religious variety, is recession proof

They want to ensure Europe's dependence on Gazprom. Russia and Iran will fortify whatever is left of gov controlled Syria and play footsies with the Kurds to keep the Saudi-Qatari pipeline project from reaching the Mediterranean.

If I am not wrong , USSR/Russia has been in Syria since Basshar Assad Father was the Ruler , The Naval facility in Tartus was in existance since 1971

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_n ... _in_Tartus

Tartus hosts a Soviet-era naval supply and maintenance facility, under a 1971 agreement with Ba'athist Syria.

So its not that Russians are there just to save Al Assad arse , they have long standing interest in Syria much before Assad is in power and would be there long after he is gone

Russia, Iran, and Syria are setting up a joint operations center in the heart of Baghdad. It shows that Eastern Iraq has moved significantly into the Russo-Persian camp. Houthis are continuing to hold out and the Kurds are carving out their own territory. Gulf Royals have gone full Paki. They tried out the whole "strategic depth" nonsense and it is backfiring.

These Russians are really smart. I think they will continue applying pressure on the Saudi regime by upping the ante in Syria and Iraq until they crack and come to the negotiating table. The Russians will help them broker a deal with Iran in return for abandoning the petrodollar in a phased manner. Iran may allow the formation of an Sunni-Iraqi state and may accept some sort of status quo in Yemen. In return, they'll get the full protection of the SCO.

X Posted from the “Iran News and Discussions” thread.

In aftermath of the stampede that killed 717 (Clicky) , Mohammadden Cleric from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Mohammad Emami Kashani is reported by AFP as saying “"Saudi Arabia is incapable of organising the pilgrimage" and “"The running of the hajj must be handed over to (other) Islamic states".

I agree with the Iranian Ayatollah that Saudi Arabia is incapable of running the Hajj and responsibility must pass to a committee of other nationalities with additional proviso of democratic representation on the basis of Mohammadden population size. India off course will necessarily have to be represented on the committee as a country having a Mohammadden population that is among the largest in the world. Further our “Non-Aligned” status between Shia and Sunni should be helpful.

Our Government must support Iran and other like minded countries with large Mohammadden populations and press for the internationalisation of managing Mohammadden Pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. Never mind the gnashing of teeth by the Al-Saud family who have monopolised the patrimony of what belongs to the whole Mohammadden world for themselves.

Iran calls Saudi unfit to manage hajj after disaster

TASS has put out Putins plan to fight Desh he will spell out at UN for its approval

A coalition with Russia: Vladimir Putin's plan to combat the IG
http://tass.ru/politika/2290983

Putin's Plan
The proposals of the Russian president, was first performed in June 2015 at a meeting in Moscow with the head of the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, can be summarized in the following theses:

The coalition should include all countries in the region, especially those who are at war with IG on the ground - the Syrian and Iraqi army, militias of Kurds.
The actions of the coalition must be approved by the UN Security Council.
The settlement of internal conflicts in the "problem countries", which are in the zone of influence of the IG, especially in Syria.
The economic recovery and social development in these countries.
The coalition, which formed the United States, which is already a year and causes air strikes on the positions of the IG in Syria and Iraq, has not received the mandate of the UN Security Council, in addition, its actions are not formally agreed with the authorities in Damascus. It is unacceptable for Russia.

It is the involvement of the Syrian leadership in the common fight against the IG is the main point of contention in relations between Russia and its potential partners in the antiterrorist coalition, including not only the US and the EU, but also the regional players - Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel. Opponents of Russia in this issue believe that Moscow's support for President Bashar Assad contributes to the destabilization of the situation in Syria and does not focus on the fight against the IG. For Russia, the main thing is not to hold Assad in power in Syria and preserve the foundations of statehood. The alternative is chaos.

According to Putin, any act "aimed at the destruction of the legitimate government (Syria) will create the same situation that you can now see in other countries in the region or in other regions, for example in Libya, where all state institutions are destroyed."

http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/chi ... -in-syria/

On Tuesday morning, a Chinese naval vessel reportedly traveled through Egypt’s Suez Canal to enter the Mediterranean Sea; its destination was not confirmed.

However, according to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) that is stationed inside the Syrian coastal city of Latakia, Chinese military personnel and aerial assets are scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks (6 weeks) to the port-city of Tartous – he could not provide anymore detail.

Russia has made it abundantly clear that they are taking an active role in this conflict, but the news of the Chinese military to Syria provides more insight into their contingency.

It appears that Russia is not going to combat ISIS alone: the plan is similar to the U.S.’ idea of a “coalition” of air forces, but far more involved on the ground; this is something the U.S. and their allies have avoided since the inception of their war against ISIS.

Despite all of this, Russia and the U.S. appear to be at it again; however, this is no space or arms race, they are actively flexing their muscles through their proxies (U.S.: rebels and Russia: Syrian Army).

the best outcome of the entire mess unleashed in mid-east would be a redrawing of KSA boundaries and a defanging of their mad regime. the west coast can be a jointly administered islamic union territory of sorts with indian sarkari musalman reps also being in the governing council given our big muslim pop. a period of economic collapse and chaos in saudi will defang their wahabi cultural exports that has caused so much mayhem outside.

houthis to rule yemen jointly with all others and settle their internal disputes fairly - without gulf state proxies. iran might want to setup a new base there to 'keep an eye on the gulf of aden' :D

oman and socotra become a big indian naval base. Bartania kicked out of there.

iraq splits into 2 parts with peaceful settled borders and fair trade. kurds get their country.

syria becomes whole again.

ISIS eradicated or chased out to anatolia in turkey where they become a nato problem for the too-clever turkish regime.

Russia has made it abundantly clear that they are taking an active role in this conflict.
According to the Russian govt, it only has been supplying weapons and the russians there are for training and maintenance. I see no reason to doubt this. Its only the west which has been claiming that Russians are involved in combat.

the West is openly carrying out bombing missions allegedly on ISIS and supplying training/arms(like TOW missiles) to various rebels allegedly to fight both ISIS and Assad.

so why is anyone offended if russia also wants to join the party. there is no UN resolution or anything that bars people from joining or leaving the fight there.

take a look at the nato base in incirlik - point google earth to adana, turkey and then 5km east.

it has dispersed neat HAS for atleast 100 fighters and vast aprons for heavies - 1 P3 , and around 8 kc135/C5/C17 are visible.

even more amazing is the base infra attached - it looks like a khan villa community from san diego with red tiled roofs and cul de sacs with circles at the end.

the syrian bases look like slums in comparison.

Shia- Sunni Civil War Reaches A New High !
Saudis bar Iran’s health minister from visiting Mina victims
Tehran, Sept 26, IRNA – Saudi Arabia barred a proposed visit by Iran’s Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh to the Iranian pilgrims wounded in Mina tragic stampede, it was reported on Saturday.

According to the Health Ministry’s spokesperson Iraj Harirchi, the Saudi officials also refused to provide necessary facilities for the dispatch of an Iranian team to help aid those pilgrims who were injured in the incident.

He said the Iranian health ministry announced readiness to dispatch a medical team to Saudi Arabia immediately after the catastrophic incident to assist the Iranian pilgrims there but were denied access by the Saudi officials. More reason that the Muslim Ummah should take away Hajj arrangement from the Saudis
The relatives of the most disastrous fatal even in the history of Hajj pilgrimage are still shocked with hearts filled with deep sorrow both in Saudi Arabia in Iranian pilgrims’ camps and back home in Iran, awaiting justice to be observed for the creators of this catastrophe for the Islamic world.
Many world experts, political and religious officials believe mismanagement was the real cause for the various incidents in this year’s Hajj pilgrimage, including the fall of a huge crane, a fire disaster in a hotel, a fire which spread in the camp of the Egyptian pilgrims in Mina desert, and above all, Mina stampede. If the management of their oil economy has been "successfully outsourced" to non-Saudi nationals, why not "try" the management of this important tenet of Malsi ; that way, the blame also can be shifted elsewhere

Turkey's Ruling Party Uses Cheap Tactics To Garner Votes - Opposition Party Protests Use of " Bismillah" In Jingle
‘Bismillah’ campaign song debate heats up between AKP, opposition
Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chairman Bekir Bozdağ has said his party will object the Supreme Election Board (YSK) decision to ban the use of “Bismillah” (in the name of God) in the AKP’s campaign jingle for the upcoming snap election.

“Saying ‘bismillah’ is not using religion for politics, as every Muslim in our country starts working by saying it. Can you even forbid any politician from using ‘bismillah’?” Bozdağ told reporters late on Sept. 24.This is what is called as "playing to the religious sentiments of the people for cheap purposes"

The issue also arose during the exchange of Eid al-Ahda greetings on Sept. 25 between the Republican People’s Party (CHP), which had applied to the YSK for the ban, and the AKP.

CHP deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu reacted against AKP deputy Ahmet Gündoğdu when the latter said the CHP “protested the use of ‘bismillah.’”

“The ‘bismillah’ is sacred,” Tanrıkulu said, accusing the AKP of abusing a value shared by the whole country for party interests.

He also claimed that the AKP deliberately used the phrase despite knowing the YSK would ban it, as the party again wanted to portray itself as a victim.

Chinese Military Advisors Expected to Join the Russians in Syria
http://www.almasdarnews.com/article/chi ... -in-syria/
Last month, the Syrian civilians living in the government-controlled parts of Syria had little be optimistic about: the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was spread too thin and on the defensive at most fronts, while the humanitarian crisis inside the country spread to the provinces that were once relatively unaffected by the violence (i.e. Al-Sweida).

Well, “hope springs eternal” when hundreds of Russian Marines and dozens of Russian jets enter your country; this was the case in the overcrowded provinces of Latakia and Tartous, as large crowds gathered near the coast to welcome these Russian naval infantrymen and their advanced military hardware.

Those previously depressed civilians in the government-controlled part of Syria are now oozing with optimism, thanks in large part to the recent news of China’s military partnership with their Russian allies.

Earlier this week, a Chinese naval vessel crossed through Egypt’s Suez Canal and entered the Mediterranean Sea; its destination was unknown, but that did not make a difference to the Syrian people because the news circulating around the country indicated that China’s participation in this brutal conflict was imminent.

According to a senior officer in the Syrian Arab Army that is stationed inside the coastal province of Latakia, “the Chinese will be arriving in the coming weeks.”

When asked to elaborate, the officer responded that Chinese military personnel were expected to join the Russians Marines stationed around Syria’s western countryside.

Could there be any truth to this? Seems far fetched but then again, I never thought the Russians would have the cajones to send an expeditionary force into Syria and they did.

Maybe we should put together an expeditionary force of our own. Give our SU-30's and upgraded Mirages a little bombing practice? I don't know if air routes and logistics would even allow for such a thing, but it's a nice thought. :)

Axis of Evil among Shia

Russia, Iran, Iraq & Syria setting up ‘joint information center’ to coordinate anti-ISIS operations
Russia, Iran, Iraq and Syria have agreed to establish a joint information center in Baghdad to coordinate their operations against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIL/ISIS) militants, according to sources.

“The main goal of the center will be gathering, processing and analyzing current information about the situation in the Middle East – primarily for fighting IS,” a military-diplomatic source told Russian news agencies on Saturday.

The information center in the Iraqi capital will be headed by an officer of one of the founding countries on a rotating basis. Rotation will take place every three months. According to the source, Iraq will run the center for the next three months.

Russia, Iran, Iraq and Syria may also use the information center to coordinate anti-IS combat plans, the source said, adding that the agreement is a milestone for uniting the region’s countries in the war on terrorism – primarily on Islamic State militants.

The Iraqi army’s joint operations command confirmed the agreement on Saturday, saying that it came with “increased Russian concern about the presence of thousands of terrorists from Russia undertaking criminal acts with Daesh [Islamic State],” Reuters reported.

No need for any quid pro quo. Mohammadden religion sectarian dynamics ensures the Islamic republic of Iran will oppose any Sunni dominated group that seeks to supplant a group dominated by Non-Sunni’s. In the Syrian context IS/ISIS/ISIL is Sunni while Bashar Assad is Non-Sunni Alawaite.

seems the houthis + yemen army have ground to a halt the big UAE offensive, and have invaded saudi arabia to some 10km depth, killing as many troops and vehicles as they can, since the incompetent saudis prefer to sit inside their vehicles and enjoy AC and have no concept of using tactics and airpower. its embarassing if you read it here. i guess the rich and educated saudis join the KSAF and get to fly tornadoes and F-15s while the rural poor conscripts and paid volunteers from african nations are sent to form the army.

houthis seem to be like vietcong or russian partisans - sons of the soil unused to malls, easy money or AC comforts...basic kit and sandals but ideal for hot climates and they are not afraid to stalk and ambush tanks and IFVs from close range using terrain for cover.

probably the jordanian bedouins and the hardened kurd units fight like that. seems far superior to the efforts the iraqi shia militias put together in tikrit.

Classic ambush , the normal RPG-8 wont do any damage to Abrams armour but is good enough to take care of its tracks.

I posted one video of Abrams armour getting defeated by 2nd gen Konkurs

someone was saying a HMG will destroy the abrams APU and engine if fired from behind...certainly any RPG or ATGM will destroy the engine and in urban areas ample changes for people to sneak around and fire from the top or sides at very close range.
if the engine and APU is gone, the turret traverse will not work , no electricals and its mission killed.

the abrams has 4 fuel tanks - at the corners. containing turbine fuel. it would cause big fire.
