Re: Levant crisis - III
yes the syrians nearly lost that base a while back (it is located west of palmyra) as the IS attacked from north...I believe they were pushed back somehow and fighting continues up north in Shaer and Jabal gas fields. some russian marines are seen in pics helping the tiger forces.

long overdue imo but dont they want to roll up manbij and link up with deir azzor from shahdadi first to cut off many escape routes for the rats.or perhaps the idea is to bypass all side shows and go for a :thunder run: baghdad style right into the Emir's palace in Raqqa - induce panic with directness and rapidity of movement.
- however the kurds and arab tribes are far from being a us army corps in weight and mobility and air support...let alone training levels.
on positiv neuj side the terrain is flat dry desert with no hills or wadis or rivers ... so kurd columns can easily bypass strongpoints and make for the Emirs den. this they did in shahdadi offensive also...mop ups continued for a long time. amriki drones and satellites should be able to tip them off to ISIS movements.
first sign of success will be if the zombies camped around deir azzor suddenly disappear one morning and head north to protect helms deep @ raqqa

looks like the end-game for IS in syria/iraq is nigh... and focus shifts to the sahel.
however, the re-partitioning of the levant is also nigh
its not out of the realms of possibility that the kurdish resurgence is also directed at iran...

Aha! So Official Pakistani assistance has finally arrived: The Pakistan Army of Islam.Burqa-clad battal-lion
All this joy over the Bag-daddy run to Raqqa is a bit silly. First, there is no "Emir" sitting in Raqqa - must have moved long ago to Turkey or maybe Libya. Or Chad. Or Mali. Or Sudan. Or, most probably, Karachi.
Secondly, a run into Raqqa will encounter severe IED attacks plus shiv's 'pakidrone' attacks.
Thirdly, the US may take photoOps of flag being planted in downtown Raqqa, but THEN the battle will really start.
All in all, pointless waste of a lot of lives. Now if we could persuade the good general to run his armored divisions straight through Ankara, THAT might end the war a lot quicker. Half of Turkey will join on his side. 90% in short order. They just need to make sure they leave enough lampposts standing.

Re: Levant crisis - III
Look at the video of the Russian planes at this link on NATO rushing to liberate Raqqa.
See the part where the Russians are loading a bomb under the wing of an aircrat: They use a hand-operated lift!! No servo motors with battery back etc. No conveyor belt. This must add a long time to the loading of every weapon, but it will work with minimal logistics, in any place. How do they get a 1000lb bomb aligned exactly to attach I wonder.

.....and as for Assad, the kurds maybe singing this........good bye to you
Of all the things I've believed in
I just want to get it over with
Tears from behind my eyes but I do not cry
Counting the days pass me by
I've been searchin' deep down in my soul
Words that I'm hearin' are starting to get old
It feels like I'm startin' all over again
The last three years were just pretend
And I said
Goodbye to you
Goodbye to everything that I knew
oh heck I'll let Patty Smyth and Scandal knock it out.....

The only relevant poem is by Sheikh Bill Bin Speare:
Surely the money saved can buy the nose landing gear for an F-35?
In one stroke, Erdogan and his ISIS gang will be toppled. Once a serious secular government is back in power in Turkey, the US can go back in.
There is ONE very easy step that AlObama can take if he is serious about winning against ISIS: Announce closure and withdrawal from Incirlik Air Base. First pull out all air superiority fighters and fighter-bombers.ISIS, US, AlQaeda
When shall we three meet again
In Syria, Eyerak or Yemen?
Surely the money saved can buy the nose landing gear for an F-35?

I have no idea who those people are depicted in the above photos.
it is highly illegal to impersonate our peaceful, fun loving US troops and against the Geneva convention.
we Americans are wary of war after having suffered ignominious defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan and we no longer fight in the ME.
our guys are way behind the front lines reviewing and monitoring the plan that has been laid out by CENTCOM er, Saladin.....
the Kurds may choose to follow their own plan if they wish.........it is completely up to them........

Re: Levant crisis - III
per latest reports the JN enclave in north aleppo is on point of collapse and being rolled over the Daesh. IS frontline is now allegedly 500m from Azaz. contact between YPG and ISIS on this front is imminent.
turkey seems to have achieved its secondary goal as vast amounts of unused weapons have been captured intact by the ISIS, so the pot will be kept boiling for sure. if the azaz ramparts fall, the defeated JN and friends will probably relocate via turkey back to Idlib.

Re: Levant crisis - III
meantime two large formations of Govt forces in Iraq have encircled Falluja from the N and S. the peripheral areas have been cleaned up and careful probes into the main urban area in progress.
this would be the last major Daesh "Quila" along the euphrates valley other than Qaim on the syrian border. if Falluja falls more reinforcements could move north to areas west of Mosul and clean up last vestiges of Daesh around tharthar lake also on the way up. a cottage industry of making weapons and bombs had come up on these empty stretches.
as usual , manpower is the limiting factor.

Some people in #Azaz now scared ISIS has sleeper cells inside &will take their town same way. Some believe rebels strong enough to defend.

ISIS took many villages in #Azaz pocket by surprise due to sleeper cells, who suddenly took over villages & let ISIS in from East side

Bissing Contest just got louder: Iran bans citizens from Haj pilgrimage.
Wonder how this is going to play - even inside Iran! Seems like the Eyeranian guvrmand has just played into the hands of the Saudi murderers. What if KSA does not react at all? Or says: Good riddance to the Shiite kuffar?
Can Iran orchestrate a worldwide Shia boycott of Mecca and create an alternative Ramadan center? Will Shias put nationalism above the holiest of Islamic belief?

Re: Levant crisis - III
I always thought that the ultimate fate of Kaaba is to be a peripatetic relic which is exhibited in a different country each year.
When it comes to India yindoos too can worship the blackstone by anointing it with oil, ghee, turmeric, vermilion ityadi claiming it to be a shiv linga while the Indian Muslims will be circumambulating it.
The lesser fate is it will be broken again by some khwarij and the pieces scattered into different countries as individual relics.
Else some enterprising group can steal it, put it inside a rejigged ballistic missile and send it into the sun so that Muslims will come a full circle and start praying at the sun.
The blood sucking haj pilgrimage can then be safely wound up.

Lilo, at least one US Senator has publicly (and I am sure hundreds of COTUSppl and generals privately) suggested another alternative. Involves returning most of that locality to its Original State, i.e., radioactive, radiant plasma. At this point at least 4 of the Permanent Members of the UNSC might vote for that.
Re: Levant crisis - III
near monopolies do not diminish overnight or by fiat....it withers slowly on the vine as other points of attraction emerge. AT&T, GM, MSFT.... Iran-Iraq needs to work on developing their cash balances and attractiveness of Shia places of pilgrimage to be alternative power centers and break the saudi monopoly for good. +ve reinforcement is better than -ve.
