There is a lot of work going on in the commercial aircraft industry to improve fuel efficiency. Its too bad N^3 isn't here anymore to provide us details. In the US, Boeing has a shortage of aerospace and electrical engineers. Fresh graduates with only an undergrad degree are being picked up with a starting salary of $80K. Grad degree holders and P.chaadis are picked up for significantly higher. Some reports of P.chaddi aerospace engineers with structural design background are being picked up for $200K by Boeing. Most kids are interested in IT these days or developing the next "killer app".

Exactly, Same is the case with blackberry 10. An excellent OS with excellent mailing application which I found better startup os when compared to wm 7. The only thing it lacks is *good* number ofRaja Bose wrote:^^^^It hits the roadblocks all new OSs today hit.....ecosystem, ecosystem, ecosystem. People get too enamoured with the technology and visuals that they forget what kills or keeps an OS. For example, whoever keeps saying GB should have just continued down the Meego path forget that it takes massive time advantage to create an ecosystem along with lots of leverage with carriers and device manufacturers. Its a hard chicken and egg problem, not to mention a super hard bizdev problem. Technology has almost nothing to do with it unless the OS is doing something fundamentally disruptive. And slapping some runtime to supports another popular OSs apps is not a solution either. As a device manufacturer or carrier why would I choose a consumer offering with your OS vs another one - what extra value proposition in terms of services, revenue, wow factor do you bring in? That's where the Firefox OS, Ubuntu Mobile, Sailfish OS all face roadblocks.
I am seriously torn apart between buying BB 10 or an iphone 5. I like Iphone 5 because I will not have to buy apps which I was using earlier on my now lost iphone 4. And I like BB 10 because of its excellent mailing application: HUB & BBM. Also I found screen transitions to be smoother than android & comparable with windows mobile 8.
Re: Phone, Tablet and Gizmo Thread #0x02
BBM is coming to other platforms - no point in buying BB hardware anymore. People used to buy BB for its excellent KB and well integrated mail and messaging but now with their services becoming cross platform and KB missing, BB has lost the USP of its hardware. Stick to iPhunwa if you are already in that ecosystem.

Maybe for IT work. But I really doubt INFY has experienced aerospace and electrical engineers on their staff. Anyways, Boeing has locations in various places around CONUS. There is a big Phantom Works division in STL where McDonnell Douglas as well, and they hire aerospace structural engineers in other locations as well.Raja Bose wrote:Boeing PhantomWorks office in Seattle area has a huge Infy building near it - I wonder if they supply slaves to the massa.

Geekbench is a reference that works on different platforms and OSes. It provides reference only based on h/w specifications. Yes, h/w specifications are not the only parameter used to evaluate any device, but it is a reference, especially on the same device across different carriers as it will give some indication of performance.

Who is using Tegra4 in volume now?? Its almost like QCOM is the only big dog left amongst suppliers.

KB allowed me use "Good client" app. First, I saw a review rating of 3.. but I liked the service. All it takes is your KB accepting it. Attending a webex session over smart phone is made simple now. imho, very valuable app.

For BB 10, its Hub which I like: All facebook messages, notifications, emails sms, whats app, BBM yahoo etc are shown in one place. And not only that, I can answer them from the same place. No need to open individual apps for that. Its also has individual account tabs for filtering. The whole interface is very gesture based, once when one gets hang of the bb10, one feels frustrated with iphone's button. Emails are bettered rendered, specially if they html based emails, that is what I saw when I compared iphone, android, and bb10 side by side, I found that was the case. Soft keyboard predictive text is good. The suggestions are shown on each softkey as you type along, and you just need to swipe on that soft key. The only thing I dont like is that their blackberry world doesn't have have all the app titles that you get in other devices. They say one can deploy any android app directly on the bb10. I haven't tried myself yet.nachiket wrote:Ok, I've never used BB devices so have to ask. What exactly is so special about BB's mail application?

Samsung has opened a development office in the same town as nokia. Intent is clear.
About the back button, regardless of the lack of sterile uniformity, monkeys and definitely humans should definitely be able to figure out this inconsistency and get used to whatever mutant their phone uses. We primates are good at pattern matching and logos...thats why logos are so heavily used. Didnt get the huge value add of the rant

this company has come up with a HUD type display for cyclists ....
http://jet.reconinstruments.com/
not the huge EF wide angle hud mind you, more like a google glass.
there are already people who sell helmet mounted cams for cyclists and probably skaters and parkour urban 'warriors' to record their moves.

I was going to get one, but bought a CSC instead.

there are certain work items only these B1/B52 can handle.
it strikes me a totally illogical that a guy who can afford or get such lenses would want a dinky body rather than larger, balanced, more ergonomic DSLR body...his lenses are going to occupy bulk of space in the bag not the body big or small.

The nexus 7 was kept for overnight charging.. but it still shows at some 25% charge.. any info on these issues as well known? just a month old.
Re: Phone, Tablet and Gizmo Thread #0x02
My kid complained about it yester-raat. So, asked her to shut off the device and re-charge it. for the past one hour now since I posted the complain here, it has now moved from 25 - 32% charge level.
Let me observe. BTW, it is getting charged by ASUS supplied extension point/adapter. My suspicion is some apps/games was keep consuming the battery up. I will share more info here, as I get more info.

Marten, FYI:
1. I updated to droid 4.2.2
2. Also noted charge cable was loose. I had another universal mini USB one, so it is going well with that one.
Hope, it will reach 100% charge level soon. It is at 82% now.

Hope they don't just try to make an Android version of a XBox One or PS4....and they reduce the price of the new Nexus Q by actually making sure the value proposition it provides is something a mango customer cares about.
