Many high rises and even layouts have GAIL pipelines but people have not taken the connections and are still using LPG. I know of 2 apartments in Blr (around 500 flats in one and around 2000 flats in the other) with pipelines but only 20% people having connections. Same with many large areas with independent homes as well.
yes indeed, nishant.gupta ji
such errant clowns abound in the middle classes, the so called educated, the socially aware and the the public minded crowd who constantly whine, gripe and bellyache about the slightest inconvenience to them
Chetak and Nishaant Saar,
I admit I am one of them. There are few practical issues due to which I have not opted the piped gas yet.
1. The meter is installed inside the house and I don't wish some outsider runs through my house to check the meter readings.
2. Inconvenience due to supply issues that happen about 2-3 times a year for almost 1 to 1.5 days { in my area)
3. The Stove burners have to be updated with bigger holes. You don't have the option to switch back to a borrowed Gas Cylinder in case there is a need.
4. Some people staying in higher floors of the apartment complain of lack of pressure ( though not verifiable).
I never thought this would be an issue from a National crisis angle. However I am still didn't understand how the piped gas supply doesn't have same or higher issue over Gas cylinder. LPG and CNG are both soucred

LPG to Natural Gas conversion kits are cheap and readily accessible. Heck, gasoline to CNG kits are also easily available. As far as meters, do they need physical access? Or proximity to read from their rfid reader?

CNG is about 50% produced within India and is mainly methane. LPG is propane and butane mix.

While US Navy Said No, Indian Navy Warships Continue Escorting Tankers Out of Volatile Persian Gulf While the US Navy refused to escort tankers and the world debated Trump's Hormuz coalition, India quietly sent three destroyers into the Gulf and brought its ships home. The Indian Navy escorted two SCI LPG tankers, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, carrying 92,700 metric tonnes of LPG through the Persian Gulf, with a third vessel Jag Laadki also being escorted out. The warships are believed to be Visakhapatnam-class destroyers including INS Surat, INS Imphal and INS Visakhapatnam, BrahMos-capable, needing no coalition. PM Modi personally spoke to Iran's Pezeshkian. Iran confirmed India's ships are not targets. India will not join Trump's coalition. It will act alone, under Operation Sankalp, on its own terms.

Amber G-ji do we really need to post this trivial scripted PR thingy. Sorry for sounding sarcastic but this is not genuine approval and neither do we need other people's approval.

^^ @MukeshKumar - "I understand your perspective on PR-driven content. However, since this interaction involved two heads of state and has been reported across multiple major news outlets, it carries some weight in the context of international relations and soft power.
While the approval itself might seem trivial to you, the fact that it’s being discussed at that level makes it a noteworthy addition to the thread. Perhaps one can just let the item stand for its reporting value and move back to the core discussions.

These are the kind of stupid decisions that the Modi govt takes. On one hand request people to go for alternative PNG and on the other hand take away their LPG option by force. This is unacceptable. The people should have the complete freedom to choose what they would like to cook with. Govt should stop interfering in decision making of choices of the people. People will have choices on which one to use and when. Their consideration may stem from when PNG stops what they are going to rely on. Now no one will want PNG. The govt must change their behavior for good and not to act dumb and dumber and there should be no compromise on the choice that the people will make. The government's responsibility stops with the offering alternatives and the option to keep both alternatives open. If they cannot, they have failed their responsibility as a govt and curtailed freedom. Why LPG Cylinders Are Under Pressure While PNG Supply Stays Stable Amid Middle East War

What Is PNG? How To Get Its Connection As US-Iran War Affects LPG Supply, Causes Shortage https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/what-is ... e-11223503
PNG Users Cannot Keep LPG Cylinders
The government is encouraging households to shift to PNG where infrastructure exists. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas last week said that it has barred consumers with piped natural gas connections from retaining, obtaining or refilling domestic LPG cylinders under an amended supply order. The oil companies are also asked not to provide LPG connections or refills to consumers who already have PNG connections.
These are the Bali ka Bakra's. The problem with Modi govt is that, the same people who trust him and do what the govt asks them to do eventually end up with punishment from the same govt. They will not have option to LPG cylinder even when there is DME mixed cylinders available and even when the Mixing reaches 50 percent, the chances of these people again able to opt for LPG is zero. Modi Punishes his followers more while his detractors and abusers get the best of world deals. He need to change this habit. Modi is not a dictator for his opponents. Modi is a dictator for his own supporters who support him and do what govt asks and he vetoes their choices and enforces Govt stupidity and dictates what they can have and they can't. The likes of Hardeep Puri need to be sacked for enforcing such personal choices on the people. People are paying good money from their pocket to get cylinders. If he can't reverse these kind of dikats of the dimwits within the ministry better go home than remain a minister. I have seen ordinary people suffer and complain that Modi asked and hence they gave up subsidized cylinder. Now have to pay more. Can't afford. Later it was clarified by some minister in some newspaper that they can reapply to get benefits. How many of those who gave up will come to know about it? Did the Govt clarify or reach out to the people and inform them about it or run even an ad stating these can be reapplied. How many are still in the unknown? So Government must stop poking their nose in personal choices. They have no right to do that and the people never elected them to do that. So if there is PNG, let people choose LPG as well. What is wrong in that? Are they eating LPG cylinders on a daily basis that if you give PNG the LPG cylinder is going to disapper into someone's belly? Who are the MORONS in the ministry that comes out with these kind of absolute braindead dikats and enforce it on the people? Should be sacked without pay or pension and above all shoudl be jailed for the rest of their lives for bringing suffering on the common man. https://x.com/i/status/2034301626656444568
@lakshmishaks
India added 1.2 lakh piped gas connections in just 2 weeks, accelerating the shift to PNG amid LPG supply disruptions. The push aims to reduce reliance on cylinders as the govt prioritizes household fuel security during the Hormuz-linked crisis.
