I really don’t get the hate for BCCI, it is almost fashionable for some to vilify it. It is beyond debate that this organisation is the only one that had the gumption and the cojones to start from scratch, challenge the established order of the goras and defeat them fair and square at their own game in finance, administration and the actual game itself. No other sports organisation is even a tenth of what BCCI has done. In the process, it has completely revamped the way the game is played in India providing more pay, more facilities and a more professional approach. No other sports organisation was able to do it. There is no point complaining that cricket starved other sports - at one time hockey was as popular if not more, why didn’t that federation achieve even a quarter of what BCCI did?

Is it beyond reproach? Of course not- there is cronyism, corruption and political involvement due to the monies involved - but so do other organisations. Why the hate on BCCI hain ji?

Agree Tanaji Gary.
BCCI bashing is unnecessary. They have considered all parameters and decided to play in this tournament, with Govt nod. That's good enough for me.
The pakis have really pissed off the hosts with their attitude. Their captain threw aside the runners up cheque the badtameez.
Bashing would have been stratospheric had we lost the finals. But we won, so please enjoy the meltdown videos and memes.

It was an ACC event, S_Madhukar ji.

that pig who was to present the trophy is both the current ACC president, as well as, the paki home minister.

It was a a huge matter of ecchh&dee for them but they got their jihadi @$$e$ creamed, because their players let them down three times in a row

their money was assured any way.

the pig also ran away with the trophy and the winner's medals

In UAE, India launched Operation Tilak and in return Pakistan responded with operation Chaddi-mein-susu claiming they had taken another 6 7 wickets. Apparently Trump had brokered a peace deal to end the match before it spiralled out of control with promises of doing a 'deal'. Captain Salman Ali Agha has been promoted to be Bakistan Cricket Mard-al-Captain (BC-MC) for his stupendous effort. Pakistanis are going wild making signs of 3-0 to denote their hat-trick success in the Asia Trophy.

Khawaja Asif when asked about proof of their victory, replied that Pakistan had brought home the Asia Cup Trophy. Haven't you seen Mohsin Naqvi carrying the trophy? It's all over on social media. :rotfl:

Gukesh represents Bharat & the oldies like carlson and hikaru represent the envious old world order about to close.

Bharat has to walk the path to glory by struggling all alone from here on the world stage.

There will not be any support or any compassion shown to Bharat or Bhartiya citizens anywhere because now they perceive us as a threat to themselves.

As far as you talked about poverty and illiteracy and asked for financial and other support, the global north loved it.

Now every single bhartiya is a spy or job snatcher for them.

In August this year, the Union Cabinet approved the proposal of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports for submission of bid for the Commonwealth Games in 2030. It also gave its approval to sign the Host Collaboration Agreement (HCA) along with the required Guarantees from concerned Ministries, Departments and Authorities and sanction of required grant-in-aid to Gujarat Government, in case the bid gets accepted.

3 Afghan Cricketers Among 8 Dead In Pakistani Airstrike

https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-ne ... 53295.html
The latest flare-up came hours after Pakistan and Afghanistan reportedly agreed to extend their 48-hour ceasefire until the conclusion of talks in Doha.

Just as the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan seemed to ease up after a ceasefire announcement, the Taliban claimed late last night that Pakistani forces carried out airstrikes on its territory, killing at least 10 people.

Three local Afghanistan cricketers were along among those killed, the country's cricket board said, mourning the big loss.

Two Australian women cricketers molested in Indore; accused Aqeel Khan arrested within hours

https://www.newindianexpress.com/nation ... sed-held-2

The accused youth, who was driving a motorcycle without a helmet, stalked the two players who were jogging to the café. The accused, who was wearing a white shirt and a black cap, followed the duo. He first tried to grab one of them and drove off. He didn’t stop there but came from behind again and grabbed the other woman cricketer.

Shocked by the unruly approach, the duo resisted the conduct to protect their privacy. They sent a distress signal to the team’s security manager, Danny Simmons, over the phone through the live location of the place. One of the cricketers then called the team’s security manager to inform about the incident, after which the manager rushed to the spot in a car to help the duo.

By the time the team’s security manager reached the spot, a resident man had come to the two cricketers’ rescue. He had already noted the registration number of the bike driven by the accused and rang the police about it.

The matter was later reported to Indore Police by Simmons with the help of MP Cricket Association’s chief administrative officer (CAO) Rohit Pandit, following which an FIR was lodged at the city’s MIG Police Station on October 23.

“The FIR was lodged under BNS Sections 74 and 78, which deal with stalking and outraging a woman's modesty through assault or use of criminal force. With the help of the CCTV grabs and other evidence, the accused was tracked and arrested in less than a day, by October 24 (Friday) evening,” additional DCP (ADCP-Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya told TNIE on Saturday. "Khan has prior criminal cases registered against him, and an investigation is on in the case," police said.

“The Man Who Never Got to Bat — Yet Won India Its World Cup.”

He was padded up that day.
Eyes burning, heart pounding, gloves tightened.
A schoolboy named Amol Muzumdar — waiting for his turn while two other boys, Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli, rewrote history with a 664-run stand at Azad Maidan.

He waited.
And waited.
The innings ended.
He never got to bat.

That became the story of his life.

He kept scoring mountains of runs — 260 on Ranji debut, 11,000+ first-class runs, 30 centuries, average of nearly 50 — yet, the call from Team India never came.

While the world cheered others with lesser records, Amol walked back from every season not bitter, not broken — just quietly determined.
He stayed loyal to the game that refused to pick him.

Years later, destiny picked up that unfinished script.
In 2023, when India’s women’s team needed belief more than a coach, Amol Muzumdar stepped in.
He didn’t preach, he built.
He didn’t demand loyalty, he earned it.

Under his watch, a team once unsure of its own greatness began to play with the calm of Mumbai maidans and the courage of forgotten men.
And one unforgettable night, they lifted India’s first-ever World Cup.

When the final whistle blew and the cameras zoomed in, something divine happened.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur walked up to him — the man who never wore the Indian cap — and touched his feet in front of the world.

That was redemption.
That was justice.
That was cricket’s conscience bowing to character.

You might never have donned a cap for India, Amol.
But your redemption was in that moment — when the woman who lifted India’s first World Cup bowed to you in gratitude for making her team believe again.

Your legend isn’t in the matches you played.
It’s in the fact that you never gave up on the game or the nation, even when both kept you waiting all your life.

Chetak Saar,
I know its a WA forward, but a little context also need here. Amol Muzumdar was considered the next tendulkar in the making but apparently "he didn't deliver the goods at the right time" according to a selector. I am paraphrasing what i read about him in a sports magazine quite a while back.
So while he has a ton of runs in domestic cricket when ever they were probably looking for that middle order or what ever position he was targeted he underwent a lean patch in the Ranji. But that shouldn't have dissuaded selectors who have made some picks with "form is temporary and class is permanent type of quotes". He was also considered a complete cricketer, so should have gotten some shot at some time.

but having said that, I am happy for him to have achieved glory as a coach and getting his due.

What if your boss behaved like Harmanpreet Kaur?

Sunday night, India created history — winning the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup Final.

A proud moment for every Indian. A watershed moment for women’s sports.

But amid all the fireworks, cheers, and tricolour celebrations, one quiet act stole the show.

As the team took their victory lap, Captain Harmanpreet did something extraordinary — she invited two legends, Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj, both retired stalwarts, to hold the trophy and walk with the team.

That single gesture defined leadership culture in its purest form.

Just one simple, powerful act that said everything about who she is as a leader.

Harmanpreet didn’t see them as “the past.”
She saw them as the foundation — the women who made it possible for this generation to dream.

And by inviting them, she set an example that didn’t reduce her stature — it multiplied it.
Because only a secure leader can share the spotlight.

And in doing so, she gave her team something priceless — a culture of trust, humility, and belonging.

Now, let’s flip the scoreboard and talk about our workplaces.

In many offices today, leaders act more like insecure captains.
They downplay others’ contributions, hold back recognition, or feel threatened by anyone who could shine brighter.

And then they wonder — “Why is my team not motivated?”

Simple. Culture trickles down from the top.

If the leader plays politics, the team plays safe.
If the leader steals credit, the team stops taking ownership.
If the leader can’t celebrate others, the team stops celebrating altogether.

I’ve seen it too often — high-potential teams collapsing under poor leadership.
Not because they lacked skill, but because they lacked psychological safety.

When leaders operate from fear instead of trust, even talent turns timid.

Now imagine if Harmanpreet had walked that lap with her team, trophy in hand, soaking up the glory for herself.
The message would’ve been — “This is my win.”

But by bringing Jhulan and Mithali in, she turned “my win” into “our legacy.”

That’s how culture is built.
Not through mission statements, but through moments of humility.

Corporate leaders can learn a lot from that victory lap.

True leaders don’t compete with their team — they complete them.
They don’t chase validation — they create loyalty.
They don’t fear being replaced — they build people who can replace them, and still revere them.

That’s how you build cultures that last — where success isn’t a one-time event but a living tradition.

As I watched Jhulan and Mithali lift that cup with tears in their eyes, one thought struck me —
Leadership isn’t about holding the trophy. It’s about knowing who deserves to hold it with you.

That’s how you build teams that don’t just win once —
They keep winning, long after you’re gone.

And in that one act, Harmanpreet didn’t just win a World Cup.
She won something rarer — the hearts and respect of her team and many more like me.
