Re: Vote for the MRCA
Though I voted for Rafale, but just for the sake of argument I think SU 35BM can be a very good choice. I dont know why it was not included in the RFQ, but it is a single pilot fighter with lot of commonality with SU 30 MKI.

Shankarovsky had us almost convinced that Arihant reactor is a 190 MW russian akula reactor and Arihant is nothing but a modified Akula. Now with this interview with Anil Kakodkar saying that, Arihant has indigenous reactor and Russians were just providing consultancy, I dont know what he has to say...

Re: LCA news and discussion
I have a notion that its not DRDO labs but these PSU behemoths like HAL, CVRDE, BDL who are responsible for churning out production numbers are failing to do so. They have to much in their plate to chew and are not adequately manned. Their production lines might be archaic without automations that w...

Re: LCA news and discussion
One year before, the discussion on this thread was upbeat and everybody was more or less convinced that we are firmly behind LCA and it is matter of time before we have full squadrons of LCAs defending our country. Its just a matter of time. Now with these gloomy news of delay in new LSPs and unavai...

If Abhay is going to be just a TD and not going to be inducted into Army when can we see the real one getting developed and inducted, I mean the FICV. Re: Small Arms Thread
Very Good post by RayC, what appears is that there is no straight forward band-aid solution for the problem we have with manufacture of small arms. I think as there has been a committee set up to look into the functioning of DRDO, similar step should be taken to privatize the OFB. I think it has bec...

Re: Small Arms Thread
From the process suggested by RayC, it seems a 5-year plan, by that time weapon selected might become obsolete. Who knows? Rahul M - agreed maybe INSAS AR may stay for a decade more but rest of the INSAS family might get replaced. Anyway apart from INSAS AR, INSAS carbine is used in limited number, ...

The artillery seems to be like the MRCA project, never ending!. We finalise something and again some whistle blower comes and again people start running in the merry go round. We seem have to do with the 400 odd bofors gun in the coming decade as well.

I don't agree with the opinion of some of the members that "LCA is not a potent aircraft, IAF does not have confidence in it, so it wants to hide it deep down south". LCA i think is the only aircraft ultimately to be there to used both by IAF and IN, apart from Mig 29K. IAF maybe trying to...

In my personal opinion we need a strategic bomber for IAF, Why because, First of all we are trying to convert certain MKIs into strategic bombers by making them capable to carry the Brahmos.
