Welcome to the lower echelon of World cricket Aussie.
NZ, West Indies and England welcome you.
Looks like it will be a long time before Oz returns to the top echelon - rather thin on talent and leadership.
Not so fast with this "lower echelon" stuff, chum. England are still in this tournament, having managed at least a tie with the team that just put Australia out.

Yeah all well and good but add to that two losses against teams that wouldn't even be considered "lower echelon"

NZ 18/2 in eighth over . Working hard to join their neighbours.
Re: The Cricket Thread
NZ has no chance. SA will demolish them I expect. Arjun vs Matilda.

Pirathers ... now that we have gotten rid of our inner white pakistani, hopefully we will get rid of the inner 'brown' paki in the semis. No more shivering dhothis or brown langotis anymore...AOA!!!!

Re: The Cricket Thread
^^ Truely great stuff from Yuvi...the person whom i had thought was a useless selection into the 15 before the WC has really turned it on. Hat tip to you, sire.
MSD was mentioning in the post match as to how everyone will want him to win the match against the Pakis even if they dont win the cup!!!
Wonder if the thought process is any different at BRF?

Well, I'd rather MSD win the cup even if he loses to TSP....wait, that's not even remotely possible. So might as well do both.sum wrote:MSD was mentioning in the post match as to how everyone will want him to win the match against the Pakis even if they dont win the cup!!!![]()

Re: The Cricket Thread
going by recent behavior of the pitch here in mirpur, 240-250 is a decent total. Problem with NZ is lack of a second spinner.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Well even pointing say 260 is a good total

Re: The Cricket Thread
err ? vettori and n mccullum. even williamson is a decent part timer.rvishwak wrote:going by recent behavior of the pitch here in mirpur, 240-250 is a decent total. Problem with NZ is lack of a second spinner.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Can only hope TI field first regardless of whether we win the toss or not.
Since batting's TI's strong suit, makes more sense to expose the batting to the pressure of chasing than expose the brittle-ish bowling to pressure only.

And he calls it a corrected mistake

Re: The Cricket Thread
Only a paki can think like thisImran Tahir to Taylor, OUT, big moment. Huge moment. The moment that could turn this match. Tahir has been hustling through his overs, in an attempt to catch Taylor out of breath, before this ball Taylor stopped him by walking down the pitch for some gardening. However, he has perished off the next ball, going for another one of those whip-lashed slog sweeps.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Would be great to see SA loose today, couple of quick wickets and pressure would be on them
Re: The Cricket Thread
Against Pakistan, we need to b at them out of the game. a total of 320 and above is a must. They have a very good bowling unit. Their weakness id their indifferent fielding and unpredictable batting. We have a slight edge as we have now had a few quite close encounters and won. It means our dressing room will handle the pressure better than Pakistan. Time for Sehwag & Dhoni to come good and join the party! more of the good fielding and steady bowling like we did against Australia!
Re: The Cricket Thread
NZ will get 215 at best today. not a competitive total to put pressure on SA who have big hiiters all the way down apart from kallis and amla to lay anchor
Re: The Cricket Thread
By all accounts, Kiwis are Toast... I envisage an India- South Africa final.
Re: The Cricket Thread
Smith is smarter than Dhoni! now dhoni needs to get back on his batting corrections, take the tip from Yuvraj's adviser and get going there. That is the only option for dhoni.
..but all pressarr if early wickets fall.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Now Australia will meet West Indies...err at the airport
Re: The Cricket Thread
1 down, few more wicket and pressure would be on SA

Re: The Cricket Thread
SA always looks the balanced team with Bowling, Batting & fielding. If they can overcome their pakiness of choking, none can beat them.
After watching Paaki Imran Taahir, my respect for Indian players like Pragyan Ojha, Murali Kartik, Amit Mishra et all has gone up. They can walk into any firangi bowling line-up. Yet they choose to stick to their motherland, specially the bowlers like Murali Kartik who have been ignored since ages.

arey.. these grand babooze have no regenerative cells. so relax. it is all our fault of focusing too much on kirikat and not on genuine and required politics.

Yes, murali kartik and murali vijay are now singing murali manohara gopala! on per-farm-ance meter, their graph dojen mejure up!

From cricinfo, Integrity uvacha:
Blasphemy onlee...maybe Ponting needs to meet his Qadri for comparing a 1 TFTA=10 SDRE ratio type bowling attack..
SDRE bowling == TFTA bowling?Asked later at the press conference to compare the Indian and Pakistan bowling attacks, Ponting said, and he looked like he meant it, that they were quite similar.
That's as big a compliment as the Indian bowling attack could have hoped to get.

habal wrote: Ponting's staying at crease was crucial, he ensured that the run rate didn't rise beyond uncomfortable levels. He played a big comeback innings for two purpose. First to ensure slow run-rate and next to make a large enough individual score to remove suspiscion.
Give your CT a rest. Ponting scored 104 for 118 balls at the strike rate of 88.13, that is very good for a #3 batsmen in an ODI.
