Gentlemen,
The people on the ground in the tribal areas of Pakistan often report seeing and hearing US drones overhead for hours at at time. If they can be seen and heard for hours by civilians, how is it that Pakistan has never intercepted or shot any down ? They have RADARS, they have fighters, they have MANPADS, yet never has Pakistan even brought down a US drone. Yet the MQ-1 and MQ-9 drones that the US operate in Pakistan are quite helpless aircraft and would be easy for a modern military to detect and shoot down, as they once did for an Indian drone that had strayed into Pakistan.
GoogleEarth has even revealed that MQ-1 drones were actually based in Shamsi airfield, in Pakistan.
That image is still available on GoogleEarth today for those that want to see it. Go to 27°51'17.58"N and 65°10'4.92"E, select the little clock Icon on the top of the screen, which will make a little date cusrsor appear on the top of the screen. Move the date Cursor to to the left until you reach the July 1 2004 picture and the 3 Predators and their hangars will appear.
So we have Pakistan claiming they condemn theses drone strikes in their tribal areas and protest against US violation of their sovereignty, while at the same time, hosting a US MQ-1 Predator drone base on Pakistani soil.
Now these same people are claiming that the US again violated their airspace, this time with two helicopters, which flew over 100 NM from the Afghan-Pakistan border (at least 35 minutes), hovered in the Abbottabad area for some time, crashed a helicopter, spent 38 minutes inside the Ben Laden compound, during which time they sent for a backup helicopter, which also flew 35 minutes from the Afghan border, and then the two helicopters took off, and flew back 100NM for 35 more minutes back to Afghanistan and all this undetected.
All this occurred just 28 Nautical Miles north of Islamabad, and 600 meters, yes just 600 METERS from the outer edge of the Kakul Military Academy. In addition to the Pakistan Military Academy, there are nearby two military training centers, one of the Baloch regiment and another of the Frontier Force, two elite regiments in the Pakistan army. There is also the local headquarters of the ISI. Then there is the Army Medical Corps. Also based in the area is a Quick Response Force, an army unit created to respond to potential terrorist attacks that might target the highly-sensitive area. All of these institutions are located less than a mile from where the raid took place. I saw on GoogleEarth, a Pakistani helicopter pad with a helicopter on it, less than a km from the Ben Laden house
Anyone who believes that the US helicopters did not come in through the front door and that this raid was not done with the full knowledge and collaboration of the Pakistani military is high on drugs.
They have been lying for years about the drones. They are now lying about the raid, for the same reasons. Now what those reasons are, I am at loss for an explanation.
