Taliban threaten to bomb mobile phone shops
http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news- ... FeedBurnerPESHAWAR - Taliban have threatened to bomb a mobile phone market in Peshawar for the ‘shameless’ selling of video clips, ring tones and accessories, officials said Saturday.
Some 60 shopkeepers received letters in the post ordering them to burn the offending stock,?? including memory cards and speakers for MP3 players, and stick to selling only mobile phones and essential accessories.
DVD and CD shops have in the past been bombed by militants who deemed the businesses ‘un-Islamic’.In one of the letters, seen by AFP, militants wrote: “Do not compel us to send a bomber... stop this shameless business in one week and burn the shameful stuff. Just sell mobile phones, batteries and chargers.
“Your markets have become centers of shamelessness...Our mission is to stop this shameless business and if you do not stop it yourself then we will make an example of you and your market.” Officials and police acted quickly to minimise the threat from would-be bombers.
“We have immediately closed down the shops doing ring tones and video clips business, after about 60 shopkeepers received threatening letters from Taliban by mail,” local market association secretary general Shakil Ahmed told AFP.
He said parking spots for motorcycles - which are sometimes packed with explosives and detonated - had been moved away from the market and police had been asked to increase security.
Senior police official Faisal Murad said patrols had been stepped up around the market in Peshawar, which sits on the edge of tribal region - a haven for Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants.
The Taliban have increased its campaign of violence in recent months, leading to fears that violence could mar a general election scheduled to take place by mid-May.

Pakistani clerics endorse suicide bombings, reject proposed peace conference
The tortuous path of the Afghan government's plan for a regional ulema conference that would issue a fatwa condemning suicide attacks reached a new impasse yesterday when the head of Pakistan's ulema council stated that suicide attacks are permissible. The proposed conference, originally put forward by Afghanistan's High Peace Council, was agreed to by Pakistan in November, and then hit a series of snags as it was condemned by the Taliban in late December and early January.
...
In an interesting twist, last month the Taliban changed their stance from condemning the proposed conference to demanding to take part in it. Reports suggested that Pakistan's position on the proposed conference mirrored that of the Taliban, which remained steadfastly opposed to a gathering that would potentially outlaw the tactic of suicide bombing. [See LWJ report, Karzai presses for fatwa on suicide attacks.]
...
The picture became much clearer yesterday, however, when the head of Pakistan's ulema council announced that suicide attacks are permitted in Afghanistan so long as US forces remain in the country.
"Palestine is occupied by Israel, Kashmir by India, and Afghanistan by the US. So if the Muslims don't have the atomic bomb, they should sacrifice their lives for God," Tahir Ashrafi, the head of the Pakistan Ulema Council, told TOLOnews.
Significantly, Ashrafi's rhetoric on suicide attacks is identical to that of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan. In January 2009, the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan released a propaganda tape in which a jihadist said that "suicide bombers are the atomic weapons of Muslims."
In the tape, a teenage suicide bomber named Masood, who was involved with a May 2008 double suicide bombing in Lahore, stated: "Suicide bombers are the atomic weapons of Muslims because Muslims do not have the latest weapons to fight enemies who are committing atrocities against Muslims in Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq."
...
In another interesting twist, Ahmad Saeedi, an Afghan political commentator, has claimed that the latest statement on suicide bombings by the head of the Pakistani ulema was issued at the request of Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence Directorate, according to Pajwhok Afghan News.
...
It is not surprising that the Taliban continue to sabotage any attempt to curtail the use of suicide attacks, which constitute one of the most powerful weapons in their arsenal. As data compiled by the South Asia Intelligence Review of the South Asia Terrorism Portal show, the number of suicide attacks in Afghanistan rose from one in 2001 (the bombing that killed Northern Alliance leader Ahmad Shah Massoud on Sept. 9, 2001, two days before 9/11) to 736 by Sept. 5, 2011 (the date of the SAIR report), with a total of 3,755 fatalities.

After accepting request for conference- the terrorists have misused invitation to make the process a tool to legitimate suicide bombing, from position of control of talibans and indicated total violence.
Notice how pakis have gone about it , twists & turns, and endorsement of suicide is open and loud from clerics of Islam.
A deceptive tale of terrorism from a country that is at forefront against war on selective terror.

Re: Terrorist Islamic Republic of Pakistan - Feb 21, 2013
Not being an Al Gore, but i can't help commenting on this Malsi affair. I started this concept late 90's/ early 2000's on some Yahoo groups/forums IIRC. I had in addition said the Holy book of the Malsi is the Narok and written a satire kind of article which did find some interest. Then i saw this surface a few months back in TOI comments sections. The intent then was in arguing with some Islamists that tomorrow if i start a relgion called Malsi with the exact mirror tenets in Malsi's Holy Book Narok, calling for Dahij on all Non Malsi's would it be acceptable.

Cyril Almeida says it the way he sees it (the TTP-Ikap Goberment talks).
Count the ways in which the Taliban have racked up wins with the devilishly timed offer of talks.
And arguably the Taliban’s greatest victory.
So it’s time to buy some time.
Who knows, maybe instead of 20 suicide bombings, 10 devastating attacks and five high-profile assassinations during campaign season, there’ll be five suicide bombings, three devastating attacks and one high-profile assassination, the politician willing to sue for peace is saying privately.
After all, pa'astan na khapay. It’s election time.

The death toll in the demonstration of the IEDology of Pakistan in the Islamic Republics financial capital of Karachi has rapidly climbed, as at 8.13 pm PST to 16.
This demonstration of the IEDology of Pakistan could likely be a case of Green on Green Inter-Mohammadden religion inspired sectarian blood letting as the area where the bomb went off is reportedly a Shia Mohammadden dominated area.
For a country claimed to have been created as a safe haven for the Mohammaddens of the Indian Sub-Continent, the Mohammadden citizens of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan seem to be pretty unihibited about killing co-religionists for sectarian differences

According to pakis, RAW was behind attack on Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore

Eight Pakistanis, mostly policemen, were killed when commando-style gunmen attacked the convoy with rocket-propelled grenades and AK47 machine guns.
The poor security for the visitors and the ease with which the terrorists were able to target the team, has further isolated both Pakistan as a global hub of terrorism and a venue for international cricket.
.
.
.
A leaked report from Punjab's Crime Investigation Department (CID), passed to Pakistani papers reveals that authorities were warned almost six weeks ago, of a plot and urged the all security agencies in the state and federal governments to take special precautions to protect the visitors.
The report identifies the Indian intelligence service, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), as the force behind the plot – an accusation regularly traded between India and Pakistan – but specifically identified the drive between their hotel and the stadium as the scene of the attack.
Pakistani newspapers quoted the report, dated January 22nd 2009, warning:"It has reliably been learnt that RAW (Indian intelligence agency) has assigned its agents the task to target Sri Lankan cricket team during its current visit to Lahore, especially while travelling between the hotel and stadium or at hotel during their stay.
"It is evident that RAW intends to show Pakistan a security risk state for sports events, particularly when the European and the Indian teams have already postponed their proposed visits considering it a high security risk to visit Pakistan .Extreme vigilance and heightened security arrangements indicated." A further letter from Punjab's then chief minister Shahbaz Sharif's office to Lahore's Inspector-General of Police and security ministers, requested extra security protection for the tourists. "The chief minister has seen the enclosed source report and has desired that every effort may be made for the security of the Sri Lankan cricket team during its current visit to Lahore. He has further desired that extreme vigilance and heightened security arrangement may be made to avert any untoward incident," his officials wrote.
