Lots of vacancies at top layer of PRC Satellite Program.
They took photos of two boats parked next to each other, and called it airplane parts.

Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
Wasn't there a TWA or some aircraft that crashed off the coast of Maine back in the 80s? The plane was off the coast, and some people on the sea shore saw a flash in the sky at a distance.
The US Navy was testing missiles nearby too.
On that occasion, there was an explosion in one of the fuel tanks, the control cables were damaged and the plane had a big hole in the side of the fuselage. It then proceeded to ascend near vertically to some crazy altitude and then came down sharply and hit the ocean.
NTSB held it usual post mortem meet with all the relatives and media, and they had a computer simulation of what happened.
They said that the passengers, most of them might have been alive, though not fully conscious until the final impact!

Re: Malaysian Arilines Flight MH-370 goes missing
If it is not sabotage, hijack or shot down; and it is because of a failure and the plane disintegrated or sank. We should expect debris. With so many countries scouting the area, it would be mighty tough to keep the news capped. There is bound to be civilian and military personnel who know certain things, and it is bound to be leaked. That leakage would be a bigger blow - hiding a crime backfires more than the actual crime.CRamS wrote:Ditto. I have long given up on maasa news propaganda, except browsing through NYT headlines and business/technology section over coffee. CNN is usually at its best during times like this where they have reporters all over the place, and give the latest details. Anyway, I am no expert, but I do know maasa in and out (AmberJi doesn't think so thoughSwamyG wrote:Watching Maasa news after a long time. CNN has been covering this for the last 2 hours now. They are ruling out catastrophic events.), and to this end, its in maasa's supreme national interests to have this be anything but some catastrophic mechanical/electrical/structural failure. Simply because Boeing's reputation is at stake, and with large number of emerging economy countries as potential buyers of jets, Boeing could take a hit if this turns out to be some catastrophic on-board failure, and Airbus could gain. So while I am learning a lot from the experts on CNN, I keep this at the back of mind. Plus, if this was sabotage, or that would be the conclusion reached persuasive or not to us passive observers, more $s for homeland security, defense industry etc.

Hijack confirmed. Malaysian PM to make a statement shortly.

The official said that hijacking was no longer a theory. "It is conclusive."

Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
the plane is intact, and they knewn it all along ??The official, who is involved in the investigation, told the Associated Press no motive has been established and no demands have been made known, and it is not yet clear where the plane was taken. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to brief the media.

they knewn so much , but didnt say , why ???
Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
from the above cbsnews article,
if it was autopilot it wouldn't let the aircraft exceed the altitude of planes spec, it could be somebody with mil background. Then from the second part what is the need to descend, its not likely that they can have a visual of Penang at night before deciding against landing there, were they planning a low pass if they cross land? or collecting cell phone messages for final rendezvous?"What we can say is we are looking at sabotage, with hijack still on the cards," a senior Malaysian police official told Reuters.
The New York Times, quoting American officials and others familiar with the investigation, reported on Friday that the flight altered its course more than once after it lost contact with ground control and that it made significant changes in altitude. The Times said radar signals appear to show the airplane climbing to 45,000 feet and making a sharp turn to the west. That altitude is above the approved limit for a Boeing 777-200.
Then, the Times reported, the plane descended unevenly to an altitude of 23,000 feet, below normal cruising levels, as it approached the island of Penang, where it climbed again and flew northwest toward the Indian Ocean.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldne ... -live.htmlRupert Murdoch has weighed in on the plane's disappearance World seems transfixed by 777 disappearance. Maybe no crash but stolen, effectively hidden, perhaps in Northern Pakistan, like Bin Laden.

Did Malay PM just say something about Kazakhstan? It seemed like he was referring to the range..my livestream got interrupted. Did anyone catch that?
Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
Wall St Journal indicates last satellite contact with MH370 was at 8:11am Malaysian time, presumably on the day it disappeared.
Added: states aircraft probably along Thailand-Kazakhstan or Indonesia-south India corridor.
The former seems unlikely, considering it would have crossed several civilian airspaces without anyone bothering to figure out why someone was flying with transponders off.

MH370 1 of 2 corridors: Kazakhstan to Thailand, or Indonesia to Southern Indian Ocean.partha wrote:Did Malay PM just say something about Kazakhstan? It seemed like he was referring to the range..my livestream got interrupted. Did anyone catch that?

Two tracks -- one as far as Kazakhstan. The other southern track ends in indian ocean. Just flight pathways, not plane range. Now "pings" upto 6 hours later, so who knows.partha wrote:Did Malay PM just say something about Kazakhstan? It seemed like he was referring to the range..my livestream got interrupted. All he said was: we confirm its a Grand Conspiracy(TM UB Ct inc).

How the hell did it reach there without being detected by Indian radars and unkil radar in Afg.
What could be the flight path that goes completely undetected all the way to Kazakhstan.

That did cross my mind. Someone did this to complicate the matters in Ukraine or to divert the world's attention from Russian invasion of Crimea.. but too far fetched I think.Shreeman wrote: 2 - ukrainians. this is crimea related?

I am doing this scenario analysis and I have a related question to ask: Is there any other way apart from plane comm system for the flight deck to contact people not on board which cannot be intercepted by satellites or regional atc or anyone else competent enough?

Too much Doppler shift.... they will camp, but signal fading would cause your call to be dropped in a millisec.

To my mind the plane is on ground, passengers safe and suffering. The Chinese being squeezed dry in a wringer.
Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
But this report indicates it ain't possible at that height.
http://www.datasync.com/~rsf1/cell-air.htm
And as far as I know, towers do have doppler effect compensator but for a max speed of around 100 mph

One would imagine so at 30k.LokeshC wrote:Too much Doppler shift.... they will camp, but signal fading would cause your call to be dropped in a millisec.
But if you arent flying cruise speed, and under 10,000k, you stand a reasonable chance of making short calls. Lower the altitude, slower the speed, easier the problem.
nawabs: limited study, reliable communication with ground is not easy but internet is also full of reports of cellphones ringing if left on. clearly antenna design favors ground communication, so it depends on what sort of towers were in use. some devices might have more vertical signal leakage than others. example: http://www.911myths.com/html/mobiles_at_altitude.html

If the predicted flight path over Indian mainland turns out to be true, GoI will have to face some tough questions.

Re: Malaysian Airlines Flight MH-370 goes missing
Some more thoughts
1. The plane cannot cross the Indian mainland, the way depicted in the map, unless The Chinese/Malaysian governments requested India not to intercept it.
2. If India allowed it through, it landed somewhere in the STan/s, or else Myanmar/Thailand/Indonesia.
3. Once the Americans realized what was going on, they deliberately delayed the release of information to give a chance for the plan to succeed. So this solves why the information is coming out now.

Guys relax.
The malay PM said that the plane could have done either north or south after leaving Straits of Malacca.
If it went north it could have reached till Kazakhstan and if south then till southern Indian Ocean. Somehow they are narrowing down to these two vertical zones.
They are not even sure if it went north or south. The satellite Pings do not tell position though Inmarsat has said that they can try to extrapolate the approx position depending on the angle of the signal received.
