Some of the stellar excerpts:
"She is told the key word is ‘development’, but she wants to know: development at what cost? Whose development? What kind of development ? Would it mean some of her children will benefit and others won’t ? If so, she is not comfortable with plans that exclude large segments of her family."
A couple of things:
1. Mother's Day is an invention of the Hallmark Card Company
2. The cost of no or even little development is much larger than her 'at what cost'?
3. You can only include those who want to be included on a set of terms that apply to all.

Just got to manage the booths - Particularly on election day. It will give you 5% more votes at least. CPM and BJP are the two parties which used to do it better in 1990s. If BJP manages booth level voting in UP and Bihar as it seem to have done else where already then 272plus is possible.

That dude is so mad at Modi suddenly, he has said so many things in the last 10 days or so....I am wondering how Didi can ever align with NDA. Few months back, he was quite reasonable bloke, granted Su.Swamy can push the buttons of everyone; but DoB is losing his cool and nerves. He has bad mouthed Modi so much, I wonder how TMC can be part of NDA.KLP Dubey wrote: Derelikt O'Brien declaring TMC will be the third largest party in LS. Sadly, this is true. Its sad and ominous. And it is sad because in this very page,a 'relic' of the past like Philip Sir is speaking the language of nationalism, shared interests, common destiny, sense of belonging etc.Bharath.Subramanyam wrote:Congress slowly over time is becoming a party of ‘secular’ demographics alone. In the 2011 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, DMK took a drubbing. Congress managed to get 5 seats out of which three came from Christian majority seats in Kanyakumari district. The three INC winners & one DMK winner (Christian candidate) from Kanyakumari district had double digit margins. While the two ADMK winners from Kanyakumari district had single digit margins. DMK was affected because of corruption issue. In that election, many DMK stalwarts lost. Their top leader Karunanidhi moved away from Chennai city to distant rural constituency. His son MK Stalin won with a margin of less than 2% (2800 votes margin) even after moving to a suburban seat from city center in Chennai. As the famous CRI editor Prasannavishy says ‘minority’ vote is not affected by corruption or development & only ‘natives’ vote on livelihood issues.

Very heavy polling in our locality. I think it must be close to 50% by 10:30 AM.
Although peaceful (heads will roll if booth capturing goons even set foot in our area), no central forces. Some 10-12 WB cops for security. All women polling officers manning the booth.

It is as if there are 2 countries one voting for Modi and other against him.

Let this election be remembered for Hindu consolidation and beginning of new era to be named as Modi Samvat.
Since the loss at Panipat in 1761, this is for the first time, Indics will get to rule this country as per Indic thought and samskara.
PS: Modi will lose only
NaMo-led BJP's strong point has been that it does not get unduly bogged with such tokenisms. Once I had a discussion with an RSS adhikaari, about representation of SC/ST/OBC on top leadership positions. To this day it is dominated by (not even majority, but a large portion by Maharashtrian) Brahmins. His answer was that we cannot and should not disown the past (demography in RSS), and many entrants (since PP Deorasji's time) has been from underprivileged background, due to his focus on Sewa (PP Guruji was more focused on Hindutva/Cultural-nationalism). This gels in quite well with anecdotal evidence of Modiji. According to the adhikaari, the pace of change should not be artificial/force-feed (i.e. promotions to fill in the right faces) but based on induction.SRoy wrote:BJP will be finished if Modi falls for it.VikasRaina wrote: Next he will be asked to prove his secular credentials by bringing in more Muslim and xtian ministers in his cabinet.

11:23 LIVE! MM Joshi defends Ajay Rai: Everyone takes their hand to poll booth, can't cut it off: "Party which is winning with huge majority should not bother about such small things," says BJP's Murli Manohar Joshi, on Ajay Rai wearing his party symbol. MM Joshi had won Varanasi in 2009 but had to leave his seat for Narendra Modi.
rediff10:02 No missing names, no violence reported in Varanasi:
Vicky Nanjappa @ Varanasi: The holy city may witness a high voter turn out this time. In at least 10 booths, people were seen standing in queue since 6am. Some wanted to be the first ones to cast their vote. Others just wanted to beat the heat by coming in early.
No missing names in voters lists so far. Also, there have also not been reports of violence as yet.

Most of the booths in rural Bengal have been captured. No CCTV is made working. News reporters are being attacked and their cameras are being broken. Other party's agents (other than ruling TMC) are getting life threats and driven out of booths. Thousands of Bangladeshi inflitrators are pushed to each constituency with fake voter card to case vote in favour of TMC. Other party's supporters are geing held up at their houses and not allowed to come to vote. No trace of EC observer anywhere. Thousands of complains are piled up at EC office and not a single is attended. WB police is dominating and working for TMC to allow their rigging. Paramilitary force is purposely detained inside the camp by District authorities and not allowed to go to booth. It is completely a mess here.

Initial UP trends suggest SP is doing very well in Azamgarh and surprisingly decently in Deoria; Varanasi will be up in 45 minutes.
Ajay Rai may be trying to get himself disqualified, reluctantly, to favour Khujli. Good to see that the BJP is not falling for it, but I fully expect Khujli to.krishnan wrote:11:23 LIVE!
