Cleaning the UPA leaches from within ministries will take time. Happy that Modi's government took over and doing what's best for the nation.
Seems every ministry is compromised.

This CG DIG was playing politics with national security and needs to be a poster boy for "how you get your nuts stapled well after you rip it off by accident" -- joker actually admitted to being responsible for blowing up the boat...rather than keeping silent or responding with a pre-written script. It falls on him, not the govt. of the day. If people in such high positions cannot follow the chain of command and respond within bounds, they need to be out of there ASAP.

It's probably not limited to oil and finance related espionage. Somebody aware of this espionage is also using these useful idiots to get what they want.
Photocopies of various other documents also include one with a heading 'Brief on further opportunities in Sri Lanka dated February 4, 2015'.
I wonder what has been leaking all this long under previous government.

If Sonia's drones have access to these kinds of documents, what sort of access do you think foreign gov have?

You are right. With an open backdoor they had much better access to the information. Looks like they also saved for rainy days like when CONgress is not in power and made arrangements.

The official secrets act needs to be either completely done away and replaced or updated. How long do these people stay in prison for?

To all - Santanu Saika is a green peace activist. **hint, hint**

I think this might have been the same network which was being used by Chidambaram to spy on Pranab M. This network has access to the offices of officials. A huge sack of classified documents was found.

I think the IB have thoroughly infiltrated the group and are now going after all of them. With so many more deadly NGO's, why has the PMO gone after Green Piss with so much hatred? I think they have been working has a courier for a foreign gov and the Congress.

The rot runs deep. It is only counter intelligence and the PMO's firmness which will be able to get these b@stards.

One this is clear now, it is open season on NGO's and the queen bees drones.

There was also the case of Santanu Saika, a journalist who was arrested under the OSA for publishing the contents of a cabinet note on disinvestment policy. Apparently he had been arrested in 1999 by the CBI after a failed in-house probe to find out how the note had been leaked in the first place.{Seems like the current case except that the inhouse folks were caught this time around}

Additional Judge Inder Jeet Singh at Tiz Hazari reportedly gave a very liberal interpretation to the OSA to discharge Saika even before the trial. According to a ToI report, Judge Singh held that the cabinet note accessed by Saika was unlikely to affect the sovereignty and integrity of India or the security of the state.

TOI exclusive on corporate espionage: What triggered the crackdown

NEW DELHI: The massive crackdown on corporate espionage in crucial ministries was the result of a four-month-long investigation conducted by the intelligence agencies at the behest of national security adviser Ajit Doval.

Doval raised an alarm over the frequent reporting of classified matters in the media. A TV channel's report saying the Prime Minister was shown images of INS Arihant, a nuclear submarine, at a DRDO function proved to be the last straw, said sources. He then asked RAW to initiate action, TOI was told.

The NSA is learnt to have written to the cabinet secretary, Ajit Kumar Seth, sometime in mid-October, saying such reports based on classified information undermined national security and were an offence under the Official Secrets Act. Doval also pointed out that most leaks came from government offices and there was a need to follow official protocol related to classified information.

Seth then took up the matter with the ministers. The probe led to the petroleum ministry where Asharam, a peon with access to petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan office, turned out to be one of the key men in the racket.

Ministries and other government departments were alerted and asked to beef up their security. Once the probe began, dozens of phones were officially intercepted, after clearance from the home ministry. The investigators now have about a hundred hours of recordings to back their case.

Sources said on several occasions during the past four months fake papers were made to look like important ones to fool people under suspicion and even mock conversations were carried out to ensnare suspects. When such papers were leaked, the agencies could narrow down their probe.

Finally, armed with concrete leads and evidence, the agencies briefed ministers and bureaucrats. The NSA was informed about the breakthrough and the PM given the news. Decks were then cleared for Delhi Police commissioner B S Bassi to be brought into the picture in the second week of February. The initial choice was CBI but a top home ministry official had the last word and Bassi was asked to launch the crackdown.

The commissioner discussed the issue with two special commissioners and assigned the probe to the crime branch. The agencies also handed over crucial evidence, including call detail analysis, photographs, phone numbers and addresses of the suspects to the police. The crime branch then moved in and picked up the accused.

Sorry, Tuvaluan, the only 'blowing up' there is by the DDM. What the guy did was to brag that they had 'blown off' the Pakis. Meaning, "foiled". "Blown up" as in "inflated" is something else.

Poor choice of words, but the guy is being pilloried for nothing. He merely congratulated his men for foiling a Paki terrorist scheme. It is the media that need their ***** stapled.

UBsaar, The media and UPA drones are behaving like a despicable bunch of sh**s starting with Praveen "Grandmother" Swami and his ilk. I guess he was not really politically motivated if he ended up saying something that only got him in trouble

I agree with your POV that this is just a case of bad judgement to go extempore to the UPA-friendly media which was just waiting to mess with the govt. on this non issue. On his part, the DIG showed very poor judgement in not speaking from the script that was provided to him and going "extempore" deliberately.

Can they be booked for raising pro paki slogans??? can suit be filed against government for failing to provide security and against organizers to claim damages?? The Popular Front of India has indulged in arson causing damage to innocent vendors on the roadside who had nothing to do with the this.

We can't just avenge our anger with some comments on the forum, we have to take it to logical end through legal process. I have brought this issue to the notice of B'Lore police on Twitter, as other concerned police have no accounts, if you know any please direct me to them.

for the millionth time, please put ONLY the video id i.e the part following "v=" inside youtube tags.

This is exactly my point. All the economic and military advancements don't mean anything unless we are a strong, patriotic and united society. And I don't see this being reported in any of MSM.

Its not about MSM reporting, we should create such a situation where they are forced to report.

^Start with simultaneous arrests and watch the fun. Not everyone is steel willed. Someone somewhere starts cracking and singing. Pretty such prisoners' dilemma takes over and everyone sings kumbaya together.

I do hope that all this gets appropriately 'leaked' (authorized leaks only) to the public.

Let aam public know that action is happening on corruption and selling of the country's secrets and nobody - top private honchos included - escapes this time.

Message will go loud and clear to every aam aadmi, neta, babu, journo, jholawala and dalal - past, present and wannabe - that business as usual is over. About time too.

The info released by NDTV including the picture was released much earlier by Suarav Jha, who obliviously got it from DRDO and Pallav Baglla of NDTV is known to be close to DRDO higher ups and most of the time he is the only media person who gets access to labs or missile launches.

Reference:
1. Saurav Jha's Article dated May 11, 2014 with same info and picture http://ibnlive.in.com/blogs/sauravjha/2 ... jects.htmlImage

2. The NDTV Article is dated August 20, 2014.

Keeping in mind these facts it is obvious that leaks happened through DRDO. May be this factor might have also played out in ousting of Avinash Chander. But there are many past instance of information leaks pertaining to INS Arihant, remember how Sandeep Unnithan of Indian Today had got a new pic of INS Arihant which was not in public domain.

I may be wrong but to just make a guesstimate on why this issue is being played out is, Is it the ego problem with PMO that media got the pics even before the PM could see it??

Whatever was reported by NDTV on Aug 20, 2014 was already in public domain, so how in the world can it be classified material. Did they get any classified material which they didn't report on the above date.

Yes, I believe that the channel was Aajtak not NDTV. Not only did they leak info about the Arihant but also Ironically a confidential letter (from Ajit Doval I think) flagging the issue of leaks of confidential material.

Looks like a classic "intelligence operation". The ground work and all pain staking observations, collection of evidence done by folks like the IB. And then when it is time to make the arrests like a "faceless organisation" they get the Delhi Police Crime Branch to do that part of the job. So if my understanding is right, the interrogation also would be done by the Intelligence agencies. The media may have let out the names of the officers from Delhi Police who are actually "seen" making the various moves, but the actual job may be done by unidentified folks :).
