Hope you said the above in irony and it turned out to be a bad joke in poor taste. Otherwise that's a pretty dumb and insensitive thing to say wrt the hundreds of bharatiya and other lives lost.

Ask yourself, if you had lost a friend or a family member in that crash would you have posted the same and place bets on the probable cause?

Apparently another Boeing 787-8 dreamliner of LATAM airlines made an emergency landing in Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with its Ram Air Turbine (RAT) visibly deployed, following nearly an hour of circling over the Pacific Ocean. The RAT deployment suggests a significant power system issue onboard the aircraft.

Another news report. From CNN, a 787 flight from DC to Munich of July 25:
A United Airlines flight made an emergency landing last week at Dulles after the pilot reported engine failure
The plane, a Boeing 787, was carrying 219 passengers and 11 crew members, the airline said.

Minutes into its ascent and at nearly 5,000 feet, the pilot told air traffic control, “Engine failure, left engine, United 108 declaring an emergency. Mayday, mayday, mayday,” according to recorded air traffic control audio.

Has anyone had experience with Air India requesting a wheel chair? I booked a ticket from HYD-SFO-HYD for my SIL. While I can request wheel chair for the return segment (SFO-HYD) there is no such provision for the inbound segments. They want me to submit a form supported by physician's cert. Is this normal?

There's usually a long line of people in wheelchairs, some very clearly not needing it. The regulator clamped down because wheelchair service was being abused.

Thanks. I was not aware of this rule. But my SiL is a senior citizen (>65) and does have a need. It does say senior citizens can request. But I do not see an option for that. They could have at least given an option for paid service. You can request the WC service from SFO to BLR though. So, I guess there wont be any WC service at BLR when she returns.

After a little research, I do not blame them. Like having 100 requests for WC in a single flight? Wow, that is a real abuse of the system and genuine passengers with a need are hurt.

Morning, I sent an email to Air India requesting a wheel chair as my SiL is a senior citizen with a heart condition and just recd a reply. They agreed to provide one. I am impressed.

pravula gaaru, I did actually. That is why I quoted that part which vitiated the whole series. Going in I would think that DGCA would not make rules willy nilly and they also respond in a timely manner. But then that is me.
