In today's era, any conflict affects the entire country and every citizen can come under its purview. A country's economic system, industrial structure, technological capabilities, education system — all these have now become major components of security. US court rules many of Trump's global tariffs are illegal

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckgj7jxkq58o

A US appeals court has ruled that most tariffs issued by US President Donald Trump are illegal, setting up a potential legal showdown that could upend his foreign policy agenda.

The ruling affects Trump's "reciprocal" tariffs, imposed on most countries around the world, as well as other tariffs slapped on China, Mexico and Canada.

In a 7-4 decision, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit rejected Trump's argument that the tariffs were permitted under an emergency economic powers act, calling them "invalid as contrary to law".

The ruling will not take effect until 14 October to give the administration time to ask the Supreme Court to take up the case.

Trump criticised the appeals court and its ruling on Truth Social, saying: "If allowed to stand, this Decision would literally destroy the United States of America."

"Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end," he wrote.

"If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country. It would make us financially weak, and we have to be strong."

Trump had justified the tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which gives the president the power to act against "unusual and extraordinary" threats.

Trump has declared a national emergency on trade, arguing that a trade imbalance is harmful to US national security. But the court ruled that imposing tariffs is not within the president's mandate, and that setting levies is "a core Congressional power".

Mumbai Pune Missing Link Project Gets MASSIVE Update by August 2025 !

Missing Link Project Update August 2025

Mumbai Pune Expressway’s 13.3 km Missing Link project by MSRDC is an under construction 8 lane access-controlled highway connecting Khopoli to Kusgaon.
This will bypass Khandala Ghat’s hairpin turns which are prone to landslides, reduce distance by 6 km, reduce travel time by 25 minutes, and provide a straighter route.
This is the August 2025 update of the same.

i like the pm but he really needs to get a new person to write his speeches, any occasion that has an acronym will be molded and twisted to reflect newer possibilities, but that is how words and acronyms work, like his latest at the SCO:

S-security
C-cooperation
O-opportunity

all valid points, could also be, or any combination of words containing 'S', 'C', and 'O' in that order:
S-sending
C-communal
O-overthougts

i am just splitting hairs at this point, if my biggest gripe with the person is the banality of his speeches, then there are very little things to discuss, but the guy needs a new cold opening or overall approach

New Delhi:

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi exchanged hugs and handshakes with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese premier Xi Jinping at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in China's Tianjin, a key member of US President Donald Trump's team has termed New Delhi-Washington DC ties a "defining relationship of the 21st century".

Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, has said the relationship between US and India continues to reach new heights.

"This month, we're spotlighting the people, progress, and possibilities driving us forward.

From innovation and entrepreneurship to defense and bilateral ties, it's the enduring friendship between our two peoples that fuels this journey," the US Embassy quoted Rubio as saying.

The post on X came minutes before Prime Minister Modi's meeting with President Putin on sidelines of SCO.

Modi showed spunk and spine, now time to bolster India’s leverage and really reform

Narendra Modi and Donald Trump are hewn from the same narcissistic-autocratic Alpha leader cloth. And their clash may be pictured as between two tough mountain goats in a hard head-butting bout, neither backing down, and each trying to push the other over the cliff.

Trump was being Trump when, his hopes of the Nobel Peace Prize dashed by Modi’s refusal to support the nonsense about the US President’s role in ending Op Sindoor, he raked the Indian PM over the coals. He obviously expected that imposing 50% tariffs on India would lead to a chastised Modi folding, a’la Zelensky, and suing for peace. And, having shown up the Indian leader as his vassal, he’d then respond by magnanimously announcing a reduction of tariffs to the 25% level to Modi’s great relief! That didn’t work. Next, he had Peter Navarro, his Trade representative whom fellow economists call “stupid” and worse, try and exert pressure on New Delhi by ramping up the rhetoric about Ukraine being “Modi’s war” and India a “laundromat” for Russia’s ill-gotten monies. That didn’t work either, leaving the US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, who had berated India for buying Russian oil, to tone down the invective by telling Fox News that “at the end of the day we will come together.” Nope, that isn’t happening!...

Rahul Gandhi screamed “Vote Chori” from the rooftops. But just like he forgot to mention that his mother, Sonia Gandhi, enlisted herself in India’s voter list even before becoming an Indian citizen, it has now emerged that Pawan Khera, Congress spokesperson—who never misses a chance to flaunt his proximity to the Gandhis—holds two active EPIC numbers (in Jangpura and New Delhi Assembly Constituencies, falling under East Delhi and New Delhi Lok Sabha seats respectively).

Here are the details:

EPIC – 1
•Name: Pawan Khera
•Father’s Name: H. L. Khera
•EPIC Number: XHC1992338
•Assembly: 41 Jangpura
•Part No: 28
•Part Name: Nizamuddin East
•Serial No: 929

EPIC – 2
•Name: Pawan Khera
•Father’s Name: H. L. Khera
•EPIC Number: SJE0755967
•Assembly: 40 New Delhi
•Part No: 78
•Part Name: Kaka Nagar
•Serial No: 820

It is now for the Election Commission to investigate how Pawan Khera holds two active EPIC numbers, and whether he voted multiple times—a clear violation of electoral laws.

As if the criminality of holding multiple votes isn’t enough, Pawan Khera is holding malicious press conferences in Bihar to mislead voters, create dissonance, and undermine India’s robust electoral process.

For the record: Rahul Gandhi still hasn’t submitted a formal complaint under oath to demand an investigation into the fake allegations he made regarding Mahadevapura Assembly in Bengaluru. Not to mention, the Supreme Court has already dismissed the case alleging wrongdoing in Maharashtra.

The fact is simple: Congress is the quintessential vote chor. That is why they want to tarnish everyone with the same brush. For far too long, they mutilated our electoral system, stole mandates by legitimising illegal infiltrators and non-Indians, and are now worried that the Special Intensive Revision initiated by the Election Commission will expose them further.

It is time India realises that Rahul Gandhi is dangerous for our democracy.
