I get Rajivji's concern — yes, India must own core IP and not just be the backend workforce. But it’s simply not accurate to say nothing has changed in 25 years. Things have moved forward in important ways.

- India today has 25 indigenous chipsets in development (C-DAC, Bengaluru + startups/MSMEs).

- Startups like Vervesemi have their own globally patented IPs (10+ patents, proprietary analog chains, trade secrets).

- ISRO’s Vikram processor is our first fully indigenous chip (see posts here)- design + manufacturing IP owned here in India.

-Schemes like DLI and Chips-to-Startup are explicitly structured around patenting and IP creation. Already 23 chip design projects sanctioned, 72 companies have EDA access.

So yes, foreign collaborations (like Arm in India) continue — but alongside that, there’s a serious indigenous track building ownership of semiconductor IP. By 2025, we’ll see tangible outputs from this.

Criticism is welcome, but dismissing everything as “slave labor” misses the progress. India is finally standing on new feet in semiconductors — and these are steps forward, not sideways. And importantly, leaders like Ashwini Vaishnaw (Minister of I&B, Electronics & IT, IITK alumnus, former IAS) and our scientists deserve to be taken seriously — dismissing them out of habit does no good.

Dr Gupta has decoded all 4000 inscriptions and his breakthrough work reclaimed the Harappan zero in writing. For the first time ever, the writing was fully decoded for all the 700 plus signs.

Two stand-alone symbols (non combo signs) are assigned for each specific sound of Harappan language called bi-cameral abugida (BICAS) system. This BICAS provides the secret key to its decipherment and genesis of India Multilingial keyboard for manuscript writing. Now one keyboard can help writing Harappan Brahmi, Brahmi, Prakrit, Sanskrit, Tamil, Hindi, Telgu, Malyalam, Kannad, and all diacritic based Indian scripts of past as well as present” said Dr Puneet Gupta, who is a practising oncologist and Chairman at the AIMS, Faridabad.

Amongst the larger number of experts working on decoding of Harappan manuscripts, Dr Gupta’s work has stunned as his is the only model describing the Indus script as a bi-cameral abugida writing system that has identified around 700 symbols, standalone as well as combined combo clusters as found in about 4000 inscribed objects.

The conference organised by the Union Ministry of Culture brought together 20 eminent speakers of national and international repute, including archaeologists, epigraphists, linguists, engineers, computer scientists, economists, and medical experts.

Dr Gupta model proposed two symbols per sound: one for the pre-sound phase of human speech and second standalone for the post-sound. Simply bi-cumeral system means each sound as in English say B is written as small “b” and capital “b”. Gupta linked the script’s symmetry to jaw and tongue movement, noting that in humans upper jaw remain fixed while lower jaw moves having 16 lower teeth corresponding to 16 vowels related dieties in the Hindu Shodashi system and the Harappan weight measures also use a factor of 16. Shodashi tradtion is closely related to Dattatreya Mantra tradition as revealed in all major urban locations of Harappan civilization.

“Letter to letter and word to word decoding. No rebus, no postulations, no guess work nor estimates,” Dr Gupta added who is ready with a compilation in form of releasing a book on Harappan Unicode soon.

He added now is the time that India should launch own multi lingual language keyboard that shall be able to type all Indian scripts; ancient and modern in one go from Harappan Brahmi to Ashokan Brahmi, Tamil, Prakrit to all modern scripts using dicritics. His hypothesis is unique innovative and standalone. The symmetrical articulation of human biology, symmetrical Harappan script, specific special spoken sound related with two symmetrical symbol is the key to Dr Gupta’s successful decoding, said a senior official from the Ministry of Culture.

Asserting that manuscripts are “a guiding light for the future”, the international conference adopted the New Delhi Declaration to bolster efforts to preserve, digitise and disseminate their knowledge as well as to bring back the original works.

India has one of the richest collections of ancient manuscripts in the world, with nearly 10 million texts that hold the country’s traditional knowledge and cultural heritage. These manuscripts, inscribed on palm leaves, birch barks, cloths, handmade papers and other such material, represent the “living memory of a nation and the foundation of its civilisational identity”

From the report. Pappu says "The booth-level officer noticed that her uncle's vote was deleted, and she found her neighbour had deleted it. So, she asked the neighbour and he said he did not know about it. Neither the person who deleted the vote knew, nor the person whose vote was deleted knew. And as luck would have it, got caught".
Pappu is actually targetting the IT systems used by the EC. Even in the voter application, only one voter can use the app and make requests (for himself) to make corrections like migration to another constituency, booth etc. His cheap propaganda against EVMs failed as they are non-networked devices, and do not have any kind of transmitter & receiver. Even the IIT-IIM joker Kejriwal tried "hacking" it and failed. So now Pappu & Gang is trying to hit the whole electoral process.

Election Process in India is complicated. But it has checks and balances at every stage. CEC is appointed by the Central Government, but majority of the staff who work for it are drawn from state government services on a need basis. They are mostly from the revenue department (Village-man, Village Assistant, Tehsildar, RDO etc.). And political parties are expected to be part of the process as "reviewers". Electoral rolls are updated by village/ward level revenue officers with their own specific IDs and password. So Pappu's claim that a neighbour deleted the vote of the BLO's uncle, it is not possible. Now even if there is an enmasse deletion of voters, the updated voter list at polling booth level is issued to all political parties well before the elections are held. The parties have to review the data and sign off on the same. If Congress has ground level workers, these anomalies can easily be detected.

During the day of elections, slightly away from the polling station each political party will have a small shed where a voter can confirm if his name is in the voters list for that specific polling station. Earlier they also used to issue a small paper slip with the actual polling booth etc. So if there is a case of lots of names missing, there would be a hue & cry then and there. If the voters (and the polling agents) are serious of their job, they will for sure create a ruckus. In case fake people enter the polling booth, polling agents are seated to challenge them.

Pappu's & Congress problem is actually simple. They are not a cadre based party and so have zero "intelligence" on even their own vote base at a place. In Kerala a cadre party like CPI(M) have Panchayath level database on who would be their likely voters. And they know how many are at the place, how many are at other places in Kerala, or how many cannot vote (as they are out of state, in the Armed Forces etc). The same level data would be held by BJP as well (via the RSS etc.) at a national level. I personally know that in Mahadevapura constituency RSS had launched a scheme where a single cadre should at least be in touch with 25 voters in his area.

All said & done; the constant mud slinging against EC would sure cause some minimal damage. As they say, when muck is thrown repeatedly at least some of it will stick to a person. It is up to EC to initiate legal proceedings against Pappu & gang.

The Younger brother of CJI who is a politician,businessman, event organiser and farmer was able to increase his net worth more than 740% from 2009 to 2014 and 20% between 2014 to 2019.
His agricultural land holding is 1.57 hectare in Wagholi. His income as per his affidavit is 26 lakhs between 2014 and 2019 and value of immovable property increased by 40 lakhs. In this period he has given unsecured loans worh 62 lakhs also. Despite all this his worth increased to 76 lakhs.
He also claims that he has purchased his inherited property "A Flat in Worli for Rs 2,07,07,000 on 01 Jan 2014."

All add upto a clear cut gap of 74 lakhs, which is almost 300% of his known source of income from 2014 to 2019.
Will CJI take a suo moto notice of this possible case of corruption or only be busy in making his nephew a judge and making irresponsible comments?

Supreme Court suspended the life sentence of Father Edwin Pigarez, a priest of the Roman Catholic church, who was convicted for raping a minor girl.

The Supreme Court, while suspending his sentence, noted that the appellant has already undergone imprisonment for almost 10 years. The bench reasoned that "even if this Court accepts the sentence of 20 imposed by the High Court, the applicant/appellant has still undergone half of the sentence."

It is not that the Supreme Court does not direct Archaeological Survey of India to protect and repair old monuments. Just last month, it directed ASI to preserve and repair - Ashiq Allah Dargah and the Chillagah of Baba Farid in Mahrauli despite the fact that both these mazars were outside the scope of duties of ASI as they were not protected monuments under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. In this case, petitioner was Zameer Ahmed Jumlana was not asked by the Apex Court to go and pray to Allah or the Sufi Saints for preservation of these Mazars.
