Guess not. In regular hot rodding world, engine mount locations matter and the entire power pack would be built out on the lower block layout. One cannot simply drop in another engine unless it is compatible.

^^ Problem is addiction of Govt. to PSUs and imports. Bharat Forge and L&T can design and build prototype of state-of-the-art tank in just a year or two. But they will be never be asked by the govt. to do so. It will be the same old PSUs with their unions and workforce addicted to billing overtime.

The Harrier EV Quad day, they did something to showcase the towing prowess. Interestingly it was a WhAP, that they did it with. Fun little video, some observations are that there are changes in the overall vehicle.That turret looks fake but I am not sure. The Zorawar Light Tank is India’s indigenous solution to high-altitude armored warfare, designed in response to the 2020 Ladakh standoff. It packs a 105 mm rifled gun, ATGM launchers, remote weapon stations, and advanced smoke systems. Its high power-to-weight ratio and 760 hp engine ensure mobility across rugged terrain, even in oxygen-thin environments. What sets Zorawar apart is its modular armor, amphibious capability, and integration of AI, drone networking, and situational awareness systems. It’s built to dominate in environments where heavier tanks falter—offering speed, firepower, and survivability in one compact platform. Expected to enter service by 2027, Zorawar isn’t just a tank—it’s a doctrinal shift. It reflects India’s intent to project power in contested zones, from the Himalayas to the Indo-Pacific. In essence, Zorawar is a strategic statement: light, lethal, and ready to lead from the front.

Advanced Systems Morocco factory will be inaugurated this Monday in Berrechid #Morocco, a major milestone in the establishment of a local Moroccan #defense #industry.

This factory will produce WhAP 8x8 IFV/APC heavy armored #vehicles for the #Moroccan Armed Forces and for export.

The Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP), jointly developed by DRDO and Tata Advanced Systems, represents a major stride in India’s push for Atmanirbhar Bharat in defense manufacturing. Designed as a next-generation replacement for the aging BMP-2 fleet, WhAP is a versatile 8×8 infantry combat vehicle capable of troop transport, reconnaissance, and command operations. Weighing between 20–27 tons, it features a powerful 600 hp engine, amphibious capabilities, and advanced hydropneumatic suspension—making it ideal for high-altitude and rugged terrain like Ladakh.

WhAP’s modular design supports a range of weapon systems including remote-controlled machine guns, 30mm cannons, anti-tank missiles, and drone countermeasures. Its monocoque hull offers STANAG-level mine protection, while its digital architecture is ready for integrated battlefield management systems. The platform has successfully passed Indian Army trials across deserts, mountains, and riverine zones, outperforming foreign competitors like the US-made Stryker in mobility, protection, and cost.

Morocco’s confirmed order of nearly 400 WhAP units marks a significant milestone in India’s defense exports, validating indigenous capability on the global stage. Yet, despite its export success, large-scale domestic induction remains pending. The Indian Army is awaiting the finalization of its Future Infantry Combat Vehicle doctrine in 2025 before committing to bulk procurement. Meanwhile, limited orders allow for iterative upgrades based on user feedback.
