Narendra Modi
Upon reaching the G20 Summit venue in Johannesburg earlier today, thanked President Ramaphosa for the warm welcome and for organising this important Summit.

A very productive conversation with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres on the sidelines of the G20 Johannesburg Summit.

It was wonderful meeting Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Johannesburg. This year has brought new energy to the India–UK partnership and we will keep driving it forward across many domains.

A new trilateral technology and innovation partnership!

Had an excellent meeting with Mr. Anthony Albanese, PM of Australia and Mr. Mark Carney, PM of Canada on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. We are delighted to announce an Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership today.

The initiative will deepen collaboration between democratic partners across three continents and three oceans in emerging technologies, support diversification of supply chains, clean energy and mass adoption of AI.

We look forward to working together to guarantee a better future for the coming generations!

Narendra Modi
It is always a delight to meet President Lula. India and Brazil will continue to work closely to boost trade and cultural linkages for the benefit of our people.

Had a wonderful meeting with President Mr. Lee Jae-myung of the Republic of Korea during the Johannesburg G20 Summit. This is our second meeting this year, indicative of the strong momentum in our Special Strategic Partnership. We exchanged perspectives to further deepen our economic and investment linkages.

Delighted to meet President Macron during the Johannesburg G20 Summit. We had an engaging exchange on different issues. India–France ties remain a force for global good!

Had a great exchange of views with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim of Malaysia. India and Malaysia will continue to work together to diversify bilateral cooperation.

With fellow G20 leaders at the Johannesburg Summit.
Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to global progress and prosperity.

Had a wonderful discussion with President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço of Angola, who is also the Chair of the African Union. Had the honour of welcoming him to Delhi earlier this year. India values the friendship with Angola and our nations are working closely to increase trade as well as cultural linkages.

A very productive conversation with PM Lawrence Wong of Singapore. The India-Singapore partnership remains a key driver of growth and stability.

Narendra Modi
The second session at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg focussed on building a resilient world in the face of disasters, climate change and ensuring energy transitions that are just as well as robust food systems. India has been actively working on all these fronts, building a future that is human centric and inclusive.

India believes that key global challenges can be solved with strong global cooperation. This is what made India establish the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group during our G20 Presidency. When it comes to disaster resilience, the approach has to be development centric not only response centric.

Proposed the setting up of a G20 Open Satellite Data Partnership whereby satellite data and analysis from G20 space agencies can be made more accessible for countries of the Global South.

India is fully committed to sustainability and clean energy, which is why we propose a G20 Critical Minerals Circularity Initiative to promote recycling, urban mining, second-life batteries and related innovations.

One of the most adverse effects of climate change is on our agriculture sector, thus impacting food security. In this regard, highlighted how India is addressing these challenges through the world’s largest food security and nutrition support programme, the world’s largest health insurance scheme and crop insurance scheme. India is also at the forefront of promoting Shree Anna or millets which are nutritious.

Narendra Modi
PM Phạm Minh Chính of Vietnam and I met in Johannesburg. Our commitment to a stronger, future-oriented friendship between India and Vietnam remains steadfast.

It was wonderful to meet German Chancellor, Mr. Friedrich Merz. India's ties with Germany are robust, especially in areas such as trade, technology, innovation and more.

Interacted with Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

Met Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali of Ethiopia during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. India and Ethiopia share a partnership rooted in history and strengthened by developmental cooperation. We will keep boosting ties in sectors like technology, skilling and more.

Interacted with Mr. Julius Maada Bio, the President of Sierra Leone. Together, our nations continue to strengthen a bilateral relationship that is people-focused, future-ready and rooted in enduring trust.

As always, a delight to meet Tulsi Bhai. India will always contribute towards building a healthier planet.

Narendra Modi: "Friends, Bharat believes in the usage of Space Technology to benefit the whole of Humanity. So Bharat proposes G-20 Open Satellite Data partnership"
PM Modi’s G20 Remarks Capture World’s Attention, Emphasizing Cooperation And Progressive Initiatives
At the G20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered one of his most sweeping global pitches yet — urging world leaders to unite behind a new era of disaster resilience, climate action, and technological cooperation. From a first-of-its-kind Open Satellite Data Partnership to a Minerals Circulatory Initiative that could rewrite the rules of critical resource use, Modi warned that the world can no longer fight crises in silos. As agriculture, food security, and climate pressures intensify, his call for a unified G20 roadmap signals a major shift.

Modi Sarkar just announced these 4 new Labour Codes — effective TODAY, 21 Nov 2025!

-29 old British-era laws → scrapped

-ONE NATION, ONE LABOUR LAW

Example

CODE 4: OSH CODE

-Women can officially work night shifts in ALL sectors (with consent + cab + security).

-12-hour shifts allowed (4 days work, 3 days off—ask any IT slave if they want this). Sorry Narayana Murthy.

-Even 1-worker hazardous unit now under ESIC. No escape.

AI video. But the content is almost correct.
“US Boycott Failed Modi’s Visit Saved Africa’s G20”
The 20th G20 Summit in South Africa was expected to be another global economic meeting — but it turned into a geopolitical showdown between India and the United States. When President Trump tried to isolate South Africa by boycotting the summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unexpected visit changed the entire global equation.

We may have just fixed the biggest reason India was not viable for China+1 investments

The labour codes may look like nothing burger for businesses at the first glance, but there is one big change that should help with manufacturing and services FDI. Also a big W for Indian entrepreneurs in manufacturing.

The four labour codes remove criminal penalties (jail terms) for most minor and procedural offences and replace them with:
- Monetary penalties
- Compounding (pay-and-close)
- Digital compliance correction
- Inspector-cum-facilitator guidance

Only very serious violations (like causing death due to negligence) remain criminal.

This is a paradigm shift in India’s labour regulation.

Takes away a lot of bribe taking power from labour inspectors.

A lot of FDI went away to South East Asia because foreigners are wary of these criminal provisions.
Grok says that above is true.

**Yes, the statement is true.**

India's four new labour codes—the Code on Wages (2019), Industrial Relations Code (2020), Code on Social Security (2020), and Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code (2020)—were implemented on November 21, 2025, consolidating 29 older laws. A key reform decriminalizes most minor and procedural offences, replacing jail terms with monetary fines and compounding options to encourage compliance over punishment. For instance:

- Offences like record-keeping lapses or first-time procedural violations now face fines (e.g., tens of thousands to lakhs of rupees) instead of imprisonment, with compounding at 50% of the maximum fine for minor cases.
- Serious or repeated offences may still carry jail terms, but the codes reduce criminal liability overall, shifting to civil penalties for non-wilful breaches.

This aligns with the government's goal of simplifying regulations while protecting workers.

More on the new labour codes from Grok.

Detailed examples of decriminalized offences

From Wionews.

Labour Laws 2025: What penalties exist for non-compliance with the new labour code in India?
..
The government has explicitly moved to decriminalise certain first-time, non-serious offences by allowing compounding (payment of a penalty) instead of imprisonment. However, repeat offences within a specified period cannot be compounded and can attract stiffer penalties, including prosecution. This aims to encourage compliance while retaining deterrence for persistent non-compliance.
...
Implementation and enforcement are carried out by state authorities under the central Codes; states may notify rules and inspectors who can issue show-cause notices, stop-work or improvement notices, and levy penalties. Some state initiatives (for example new SOPs around internal complaints, ICCs) include fixed fines or licence risks for non-compliance, so employers must track both central Code obligations and state-level rules.
