When the supply is there, govt must be pushing the cylinders as fast as possible to the consumers. So that if there is a indeed a shortage happening at a later date, the issue will not be serious.
We need to have some kind of protocol, a full tank protocol that the govt will invoke and ask citizens to fill the vehicles full tank. When the citizens fill up their vehicles full tank it could mean that a weeks supply etc will get stored in vehicles rather than at refineries and Petrol bunks and freeing up space to store more. it also helps Govt to fill up the petrol bunks to the fullest and ensure that when real shortage happens, it's not felt as it is with panic filling and such. This is best suited before the start of any war and when the hints are there and govt can advice people to go full tank filling. This could be tested at this moment. Tankers should be lined up at every petrol bunk.

In a sharp remark, Thakur described Gandhi as “FOMO Gandhi,” suggesting he was eager to stay in headlines. He also questioned why Gandhi had not signed the notice against the Speaker. Government must keep reducing these 25 day limit back to 21 slowly, even further down to 15 days or so that people are assured of the availability and removes the unwanted issue from the minds of people.
The 25-Day Lock: Why You Can’t Refill Your LPG Cylinder Today
https://www.news18.com/explainers/the-2 ... 53679.html
Following an unprecedented surge in panic bookings, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has enforced a strict 25-day inter-booking rule, a move designed to stabilise a supply chain
The decision to extend the mandatory gap from 21 to 25 days was not arbitrary. Government data revealed a sharp, abnormal shift in consumer behaviour as the conflict in the Persian Gulf intensified. Traditionally, an average Indian household consumes approximately eight cylinders a year, with a refill typically lasting six to seven weeks (roughly 45–55 days).
However, internal audits by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) like Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum found that thousands of households were attempting to book refills within just 15 days of their last delivery. This 15-to-20 per cent surge in demand was not driven by increased consumption, but by “precautionary hoarding". By locking the system for 25 days, the government is essentially forcing a “reset" on the national inventory, ensuring that those whose cylinders are actually empty aren’t pushed out of the queue by those who are simply anxious.
‘Don’t panic book LPG cylinders’: Petrol Ministry urges consumers amid on-going oil market turmoil
During Inter-Ministerial briefing on developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary (Marketing & Oil Refinery), Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas said, “Our gas companies have procured LNG cargos from new sources. Two LNG cargos are on their way to India.” She added, “Currently, LPG is being directed to the domestic sector. For non-domestic LPG, priority is being given to essential sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions. The committee is consulting with state authorities and industry bodies to finalise the plan to ensure that available LPG is distributed fairly and transparently.”

Big Diplomatic Win: Iran Allows Indian Tankers Pushpak, Parimal Through Hormuz
In a major diplomatic development amid the escalating West Asia conflict, the BJP has claimed that Iran has allowed Indian oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz despite the ongoing blockade. According to the party, the breakthrough came after talks between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Iran has reportedly permitted Indian tankers Pushpak and Parimal to cross the strategic waterway, which remains a key flashpoint in the conflict. The Strait of Hormuz is crucial for global energy trade and for India’s imports of oil and LPG from Gulf nations. The move could ease immediate pressure on India’s energy supplies as the country faces concerns over LPG shortages and disruptions to shipping routes in the Gulf.

A raid at a retired school teacher’s house in Chhatarpur, MP, recovered 25 LPG cylinders.
Twenty-five! And that too from someone with probably no connections. Now imagine how many cylinders the rich, the powerful, or those within the system, from lower staff to top officials, might be hoarding.
That’s why clear communication and assurance are so important. If there is a real LPG shortage, come out and say it honestly. Give a timeline for normalization and suggest alternatives for the time being.
If there is no shortage, then say that clearly, repeatedly and round the clock, while cracking down nationwide on hoarding and rumor-mongering. Otherwise, you are allowing a situation similar to the COVID oxygen cylinder hoarding to develop all over again.

I have very high gut feeling that sooner or later there will be reports coming from KA, TN & KL of LPG shortages and how Yeevil Mudi & Co were denying the LPG cylinders and also giving misleading statements. As you said, it would be just like how the oxygen cylinder issues was hyped up. And mere statements by Vishwaguru will not help, there has to be concrete action seen on the ground. The state agencies (of non-BJP ruled states) would be complicit, but there is where state level BJP cadre should be of help.uddu wrote: ↑12 Mar 2026 12:58 If there is a real LPG shortage, come out and say it honestly. Amid concerns over a possible fuel crisis triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri addressed the Lok Sabha and assured the nation that India’s fuel supply remains stable despite the global energy disruption.
Puri said the government has taken several measures to ensure that India does not face any shortage of petrol, diesel, gas or LPG despite disruptions in global energy supply.
Speaking in the House, the minister said the world is currently facing an unprecedented energy disruption due to the conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States.
“The world has not faced a moment like this in modern energy history.”He highlighted the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, saying its disruption has affected global energy supply.
“Today is the 13th day since the passage through the state of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world's food, 20% of the world's natural gas, and 20% of the world's LPG flows was disrupted following the military operation between Iran, Israel and the US.”
“For the first time in recorded history, the state of Hormuz has been effectively closed to commercial shipping.”
Despite the situation, he said India is managing the crisis better than many countries.
“Despite India having no role in causing the conflict, like many countries, India has to navigate through its consequences.”
Puri said India’s crude supply remains stable due to diversified sources of imports. “Honourable Speaker, India's crude supply position is secure, and volumes secured exceed what Hormuz would have delivered.”
“Before the crisis, approximately 45% of India's crude imports transited through the Hormuz route. Thanks to the honourable Prime Minister's outstanding diplomatic outreach and goodwill, India has secured crude volumes that exceed what the disrupted state of Hormuz could have delivered in the same period. Non-Hormuz sourcing has risen to approximately 70% of crude imports, up from 55% before the conflict began. India sources crude from 40 countries, as against 27 in 2006 and 2007.”
He also assured the House that fuel supplies across the country remain normal.
“Refineries are operating at high capacity utilisation. In several cases, they are exceeding 100%. There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, kerosene, ATF or fuel oil. The availability of petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, kerosene and fuel oil is fully assured. Retail outlets across the country are stocked, and supply chains for these products are functioning normally. Additional allocation of PDS kerosene has been issued to all the states.”
This Is Not The Moment For Rumour-Mongering: Hardeep Singh Puri| N18 | CNBC TV18
"India is facing one of the toughest global energy disruptions," said Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Lok Sabha, urging people to avoid spreading misinformation.
“This is not the moment for rumour-mongering or fake narratives,” he said, adding that LPG production has been increased & fuel supplies are being prioritised for essential needs to maintain stability.
FULL STATEMENT: Oil Minister Hardeep Puri On India's LPG Crisis & How Govt Is Tackling It
The production of cooking gas LPG is up by 10 per cent across oil refineries after the government issued directions yesterday, government sources have told NDTV. All refineries are currently operating at 100 per cent capacity, and the temporary crisis that had started after the Strait of Hormuz was blocked has now been resolved, they said. A three-member committee has also been formed to address any LPG supply related grievances.
The government has reiterated that there is no LPG crisis and adequate energy sources are available. Not a single distributor in India has run dry, sources said.
The refill monitoring window is up from 21 days to 25 days to curb malpractices and the government has also invoked Essential Commodities Act, which helps prevent hoarding and ensure the availability of essential items like food and medicines.

MP is also in similar situation. Cabinet reshuffle need done and CM need to be told to pull up and function or else should be changed. Else again will give opportunity for congress to come back to power as happened in Karnataka. If BJP must have changed the CM just 6 months prior to election BJP still be in power. They learned from that defeat and changed the Haryana CM and continued to rule the state. Same should be applied to all the non functioning BJP ruled states.

Briefing: Govt Releases 48,000 Kilolitres Of Kerosene, Permits Alternate Fuels Amid Energy Crisis
The government briefed on India's energy position, outlining measures to address the current crisis. Authorities have released 48,000 kilolitres of kerosene to state governments for distribution to beneficiaries. The Ministry of Coal has directed Coal India Limited and Singreni to allot higher quantities of coal to states for small, medium and other consumers. The Ministry of Environment has advised state pollution control boards to permit the use of biomass, RDF pallets, kerosene or coal as alternate fuel for hospitality and restaurant segments for one month, to free up LPG for priority consumers. Oil marketing companies are coordinating with state governments on a daily basis. Regarding maritime operations, 28 Indian flag vessels remain in the Persian Gulf region, with 24 vessels west of the Strait of Hormuz carrying 677 Indian seafarers, and four vessels east of the strait with 101 seafarers. Seventy Indian seafarers on foreign flag vessels are safe, though three casualties and one missing seafarer have been reported. The government is maintaining dedicated 24-hour control rooms for monitoring.
MP, Gujarat and Goa are playing test cricket. With long term incumbency they consider it a 5 day test match and are taking singles. Odisha has made a rapid first 6 over field restriction start but have to see implementation. HY and UK have made a slow start but now have started taking singles. Implementation speed remains to be seen. CH is up and down. RJ is in coma. Yogi, Himanta and Fadnavis are playing T20 cricket. To use a cricket analogy.

If a cooking gas shortage materializes, then public anger will be directed at the NDA sarkar, and will negatively affect its future election prospects. Cooking gas reaches into every household, and into every restaurant, and thus to food delivery people and the whole ecosystem.
Trump might achieve regime change in India in the most unexpected and indirect manner.

How India is securing its energy aspirations? PM Modi presents a roadmap
PM Modi addressed the NXT Summit in Delhi. He addressed concerns around LPG and global energy disruptions, emphasizing that the government is taking multiple steps to ensure energy security. He highlighted the expansion of LPG connections, gas infrastructure, city gas networks and renewable energy. Stressing self-reliance, he noted how ethanol blending, railway electrification and solar expansion are helping reduce oil imports and strengthen India’s energy independence.

There is one more thing Modi Govt can do to increase the availability of petroleum products in India. Increase the number of agencies from petrol to lpg. That way, there will be availability of cylinders within the nation at the agencies to cater to the huge demand. Govt need not have to pay anything, still the energy security is increased by increasing the number of agencies. When shortage happens at any agency, the system must automatically divert the customer's order to the nearby agency and let them deliver it.

The Supreme Court's recent judgment directing the dissociation of Professor Michel Danino and his colleagues from all publicly funded educational roles is nothing short of a draconian overreach, a blatant assault on academic freedom, and a chilling attempt to sanitise the narrative of institutional flaws in India. As a Padma Shri awardee and a scholar who has dedicated his life to illuminating India's ancient civilisation, Danino has been unfairly vilified for daring to include a factual discussion on judicial corruption in a Class 8 NCERT textbook. This ruling not only undermines the principles of transparency and education but also exposes the judiciary's hypersensitivity to scrutiny, even as real corruption festers within its ranks. Let us dissect this travesty with the data it demands.
First, consider Michel Danino's impeccable credentials. Born in France in 1956, he relocated to India in 1977, becoming an Indian citizen and immersing himself in the study of its heritage. He has authored seminal works such as The Lost River: On the Trail of the Sarasvati (2010), which marshalled archaeological, hydrological, and satellite data to revive the Vedic Sarasvati River's historical significance, challenging colonial-era myths. Danino debunked the outdated Aryan Invasion Theory through rigorous evidence from sites like Dholavira and Lothal, demonstrating the continuity of the Indus Valley Civilisation with Vedic culture. As a guest professor at IIT Gandhinagar, he helped establish its Archaeological Sciences Centre, and in 2017, he was honoured with the Padma Shri for contributions to literature and education. He convened the International Forum for India's Heritage, boasting over 160 eminent members, and has published in journals like Man and Environment and Puratattva. To brand such a scholar as lacking "reasonable knowledge" or deliberately misrepresenting facts is an insult to intellectual integrity.
Now, turn to the offending chapter in the NCERT Class 8 social science textbook, titled "The Role of the Judiciary in Our Society." Far from being a sensationalist rant, it factually addressed systemic challenges, including "corruption at various levels" that delays justice. It highlighted the staggering backlog: approximately 81,000 pending cases in the Supreme Court, 6.24 million in high courts, and 47 million in district and subordinate courts. The text linked these to structural issues like judge shortages, complex procedures, and weak infrastructure, echoing the maxim "justice delayed is justice denied." It noted that a code of conduct binds judges, yet corruption persists, impacting access to justice, especially for the economically disadvantaged. This is not "misrepresentation"—it is essential civic education for young minds to understand institutional realities and push for reforms.
The irony is palpable when juxtaposed against the data on actual judicial corruption in India. Between 2016 and 2025, over 8,600 complaints were filed against sitting judges, peaking at 1,170 in 2024. Transparency International's 2013 Global Corruption Barometer found that 45% of Indian households viewed the judiciary as corrupt, with an average corruption score of 3.3 out of 5. A 2026 India Today survey revealed that 85% of Indians perceive the judiciary as deeply or somewhat corrupt, with only 8% believing it is corruption-free. In 2013, 36% of citizens reported paying bribes to the judiciary, with 59% to lawyers, 5% to judges, and 30% to court officials for favourable outcomes. As of 2024, over 50 million cases remain pending, exacerbating vulnerabilities where litigants resort to bribes to expedite proceedings. Chief Justice BR Gavai himself acknowledged in 2025 that instances of corruption erode public confidence, citing cases like the Allahabad High Court's Justice Yashwant Varma, embroiled in a cash scandal. From 2017 to 2021, 1,631 complaints on judicial misconduct were forwarded via the Centralised Public Grievance Redress system. These figures, drawn from official and international sources, affirm that the chapter's content was grounded in reality, not malice.
This ruling reeks of institutional insecurity. By blacklisting Danino and his associates—Suparna Diwakar and Alok Prasanna Kumar—from any publicly funded work, the court has effectively censored discourse on its own failings. It mocks the separation of powers, positioning the judiciary as untouchable while it lectures on accountability. Where was this zeal when former Law Minister Shanti Bhushan alleged that eight of sixteen former chief justices were corrupt? Or when the Press Information Bureau reported recurring complaints about judicial integrity? The court's order to rework the chapter only with "domain experts", including a former judge, smacks of self-preservation, not pedagogy.
Education should foster critical thinking, not shield power from critique. By punishing scholars like Danino, who has enriched India's historical narrative, the judiciary risks alienating the very citizens it serves. This is not justice; it is judicial authoritarianism. We must demand a reversal, for the sake of our democracy and our children's right to truth.

The problem with LPG booking is that, the sites are overloaded, numbers are clogged. The booking systems will need an upgrade for sure. Something like railway booking. Even show the number of cylinder in stock available with each agency.
Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
Governement must be cancelling the licene of those agencies that help with such black marketing. Also strict stock checking need to be done, including checking with customers, whether the cylinders are delivered for sure. The Gas Booking and delivery system need a complete revamp. It's very outdated.
Reports of Restaurants charging a gas charge even upto Rs.50. These all need nipped in the bud. Reports of Increase in sale of Induction stove also being reported.

You must have grown up reading about how Bakhtiyar Khilji destroyed Nalanda. But did you know that he was defeated by a king of Assam?
In 1206, Maharaja Prithu defeated him in the banks of Brahmaputra and ended his reign of terror for good.
After being neglected for years, our government has given the king his due respect by dedicated Northeast’s longest flyover in his name!

Public memory is short. Few remember that 2005 saw 1300–1500 deaths due to encephalitis in eastern UP.
There was shock and anger because the numbers were unusually high. The scale drew global attention, with reports in international media and medical journals. Otherwise, many hundreds of deaths had been common in this region for decades, so much so that people had begun to accept it as part of life, and politicians largely looked the other way. This continued till 2017.
Then someone who was determined to change it took over. The new CM, Yogi Adityanath, himself from the affected region, made it a priority. The approach changed. Instead of treating encephalitis as an inevitable seasonal outbreak, the administration shifted focus to prevention, surveillance, and grassroots intervention.
Efforts ranged from strengthening hospitals and surveillance to addressing root causes through sanitation, clean water, vaccination drives, nutrition programs, and village-level health monitoring.
The results were striking. By 2024, encephalitis cases dropped to 116 and JE to just 5, with zero deaths reported. ZERO! A disease that defined eastern UP for decades has almost disappeared from the headlines.
This is one of the biggest public health success stories that did not receive the attention it deserved. Had this been achieved by states like Kerala or Bengal, it would have become a global story, with WHO and UNICEF showering awards and recognition. But since it is UP, it is quietly downplayed.
