Excerpt:
Critical Discussion
The incorporation of waste plastics into asphalt pavements has drawn academic and industrial attention in the last five years, driven by escalating plastic pollution, policy shifts towards circular economy purposes, and advancements in bitumen modification technology. This review highlights potential mechanical and environmental advantages while also exposing considerable contradictions, methodological unravelling, and unresolved environmental issues that must be addressed prior to the determination of sustainable or risk-informed broad adoption.
Studies on mechanical performance consistently indicate enhancements in rutting resistance, stiffness, and high-temperature durability, especially when LDPE, HDPE, or PP are utilized within optimized dosage ranges (generally 3–8 wt% of binder for wet methods and up to 10 wt% of aggregate for dry methods). However, above these thresholds, other investigations (e.g., [39]) observed diminished workability, higher brittleness, and increased viscosity, indicating a limited performance range. Experimental inconsistencies are apparent in test circumstances, with several researchers using SCB or IDEAL-CT for fracture resistance, while others utilize indirect tensile strength or Marshall characteristics, hence complicating direct comparisons. Even when employing BMD frameworks, as evidenced by ref. [55], contradictory results between laboratory cracking indices and field cracking resistance highlight the necessity for standardized testing protocols and performance thresholds customized for plastic-modified systems.
The environmental impacts of plastic-modified asphalt are far from negligible. While several LCAs [12,13] demonstrate reduced greenhouse gas emissions, raw material consumption, and maintenance requirements compared to conventional pavements, these advantages are context-dependent. For example, environmental benefits are reduced when plastic feedstocks necessitate long-distance transportation or energy-intensive preprocessing [26]. Furthermore, recent research on MP emissions [14,38] underscores the hazards linked to wear-induced separation, particularly in dry-processed pavements where plastics function as discrete particles. Despite the potential of encapsulation techniques and WMA technology to mitigate emissions and plastic exposure, field validation is still limited. Moreover, there is less agreement regarding permissible release rates of micro- and nano-plastics, as well as the ecotoxicological effects of long-term roadway exposure.
The concern of fume and chemical emissions during production and installation represents another inadequately examined danger area. Some polymers, including LDPE and cPE, have been associated with reductions in VOCs at moderate mixing temperatures [20], but others, such as rABS, increase PAH emissions under comparable conditions [66]. Health risk assessments [38] indicate that occupational exposure to PAHs, such as benzo[a]pyrene, may present low-to-moderate health concerns, particularly under high-temperature conditions. Mitigation techniques employing additives such as activated carbon [68] and zeolite [69] demonstrate potential but have not been completely incorporated into normal practice. A critical necessity exists to develop temperature-dependent emission profiles for various plastic types and blending techniques, accompanied by occupational exposure modelling and sensor-based fume monitoring.
Leaching behaviour remains a crucial yet insufficiently explored topic. Leaching tests employing realistic wear particle simulations (e.g., from Cantabro abrasion) have demonstrated a limited release of heavy metals alongside increased levels of DOC [25]. The effects are depending not only on the type of plastic but also on its interaction with bitumen, particle size, and environmental stresses, including UV radiation. Advancements in testing methods, such as the implementation of the US EPA TCLP and SPLP standard, for cross-study comparability is impeded by inconsistencies in sample preparation and ageing procedures. Moreover, the majority of leaching investigations are performed under batch circumstances, neglecting dynamic traffic loading, seasonal weathering, and pH variations, hence constraining their real-world applicability.
Methodological divergence is a persistent troubling issue for the researchers and stakeholders in this field. The lack of uniform blending techniques, testing temperatures, plastic pre-treatment protocols, and dose criteria significantly impedes comparable evaluation. For example, research indicating enhancements in fatigue resistance through hybrid systems (e.g., LDPE + crumb rubber) frequently varies in plastic particle size and surface treatment, making hard to determine exactly what is causing a specific effect because there are multiple overlapping variables or changes happening at the same time. Similarly, variations in ageing settings (e.g., Rolling Thin-Film Oven Test (RTFOT) versus Pressure Ageing Vessel (PAV), or short-term versus field ageing) affect compatibility and storage stability evaluations, compromising generalizability. Consequently, there is an immediate necessity for performance specification frameworks designed for plastic-modified binders and mixtures, like the Superpave system, but specifically addressing polymer-related attributes.
From a policy and implementation standpoint, the absence of consistent long-term field data is a key bottleneck. Despite experiments in Canada [53], the US [55], and India that demonstrate promising outcomes under certain climates and traffic volumes, the limited number of well-documented case studies precludes the generalization of the results or conclusions to broader conditions. Performance variability resulting from feedstock inconsistencies, plastic contamination, or local aggregate characteristics persists as a significant concern [18,65]. Governments and industry partners should consider establishing regional pilot networks and databases to systematically document performance, environmental, and economic metrics of plastic roads under real-world conditions.
Finally, although plastic-modified asphalt corresponds with specific sustainability objectives (such as waste reduction and resource efficiency), it could compromise other goals if not implemented carefully. The potential release of persistent pollutants such as phthalates, flame retardants, or MPs complicates its environmental profile. Consequently, LCA systems must explicitly integrate pollutant leaching and fume exposure scenarios, in addition to embodied carbon and cost reductions. As highlighted by [91], the combination of LCA with dynamic leaching models and risk-based thresholds is essential for comprehensively addressing environmental trade-offs.

Naxalism Spread Due To Ideology, Not Poverty Or Lack Of Development, Says Amit Shah | HM Slams Cong
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha, rejecting claims that Naxalism spread due to poverty and underdevelopment. He stated that Left-wing extremists chose regions like Bastar and Naxalbari because of difficult terrain and limited state presence, not economic backwardness. Shah cited 1960s data showing that literacy rates and per capita income were similar across Naxalbari, Bastar, Saharsa, and Ballia, yet Naxalism only took root where dense forests and geographical cover existed. He emphasised, 'Naxalism did not spread because of poverty; rather, poverty persisted in these regions because of Naxalism.' Shah questioned why tribals, who once revered heroes like Birsa Munda, began following Mao, attributing it to ideological manipulation rather than injustice. He asserted that Naxalites deliberately destroyed schools, banks, and hospitals to prevent development. Shah firmly stated that taking up arms is not a democratic solution, and that his government will ensure justice for all through constitutional means.

A retired Pakistani officer, Habib Zaheer, wanted to keep working after the army. He mentioned on LinkedIn that he was open to roles with the UN.
A few months later, he got a call from someone claiming to be from the UN. He was asked to come for an interview. He travelled to Nepal, sent a message home from Kathmandu, and said he would head to Lumbini next.
After that… he disappeared. But no trace of Lt Col Habib could be found. It was as if the Earth itself had swallowed him up.
Even investigations couldn’t find him. It’s said he was once involved in capturing Kulbhushan Jadhav. Lt Col Habib Zaheer had, taken part in a trap laid out for RAW agent, Kulbhushan Jadhav, capturing him treacherously from Balochistan after inviting Kulbhushan Jadhav from Iran to Baluchistan luring him with information.
Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death in Pakistan, but India had fought the case in the International Court of Justice gaining access to him in 2000 and stopping his death sentence.
Lt Col Habib Zaheer at that time had taunted RAW with the words, “Your monkey is with us.” Coincidentally, when Pakistan’s Army reached the hotel room in Kathmandu, there were many paintings of monkeys in the room where Col Zaheer was last seen alive.

Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
Absolutely useless. Only when mass reporting happens such channels do get taken down. Else they remain as they are. It's govt job to clean up the mess and if needed whack the platforms with penalties for not acting on reported posts. Govt can ask for random 100 or 1000 reported posts and see which one are serious in nature that is threat to the nation and ask what action was taken against them. Regular checking of social media platforms for such action need to be initiated and on each time faults are found at platform end, they be punished with penalty.
or even take up randomly such posts and accounts that come to their attention and ask the platform how many complaints were received, what kind of complaints or reporting was done by the public and what action was taken against such accounts? Also govt must ask for action taken against the employees who disregarded the complaint and rejected it. Accountability should be brought on the platforms. Else there should be action and penalty for violations.
Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
A question to forum members:
Post 2014 elections, Surrical strike, Sindoor , Dhurandhar 1 & 2.
The meltdown of the ruling class who had replaced Brits following the Independence is epic.
The Brits left and we were left with a whole new class of ruling elite:
Royalty replaced by Nehru's Clan.
The Aristocracy replaced by : Some old Princely states and Old British titled folks with money.
Baroents and Landowners : A mix of Old Zamindars/Nawabs/Industrialist of early Nehruvian era.
ICS/Knights of the Realm: IAS?IFS class
And the rest were Yahoos
They built an new social structure to rule the masses.
The Political Families then wedded into these various classes of power structure to keep the tight leash on things.
Even though on paper we did not conform to the old feudal system but in reality we had created a new feudal order.
The inbred Pakis retained the old feudal system but were also smart enough to recongise the subterfuge of the ruling Congress in creating a new fuedal order.
And here is my question : is this there Turakka ka ekka that they kept knocking on the Congress (just like the Nuclear Backmail). Talk to us and let us do what we want (within Limits, having said that they kept pushing that line all the time like the Chinese Salami sclicing the Ladakh)
And because the Congress was desperate to maintain the same social order they went along all the time. And given the block voting of the Peacefuls the Fuedal order was ensured to last forever given that Hindus would be diviided and more importantly can be kept divided.
Just like how the two World Wars knocked out old social order of ruling in Britain we have two monumetous events that made the slumbering hindu society to wake up and smell the coffee.
The Babri Masjid/Ram Jhamabhumi reaching the logical conclusion.
26/11 the naked Tandav of Terror with a pusillanimous government response.
These two events tore off the carefully cultivated mask of secularism used by Congress to cover their new social order.
And they came down like nine pins!!
Add to this a whole new generation of Novea Rhichea, academics and entrepreneurs the old order is crumbling.
And they dont know what to do
Hence you get a crazy unreasonalbe explanations, innuendo's, or downright derisiveness
And even the Pakis are stunned by the revival of Hinduism and no amount of pleading cajoling and/or threatening the old order is delivering no respite.

Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
Can we now say that there is now true devolution of power.
And a new order is emerging that has India and Indian Interest at Numero Uno!
I sincerely hope that the BJP wont mess up the 2029!!
Atleast 20/30 years of new order, the old system will be buried forever.

Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
And there were two proverbial Curve Balls to the Congress order:
1. The Unpredictability of Indira, she broke many myths, promises and established orders. This resulted in the chaotic interregium of Janata Party, etc which created more problems. It took a while for the Old order to get the power structure back in place.
Though Bofors and the Kichadi sarkars came by but the establshed ruing order still held the real power.
2. Then came PVN. Babri happened (and I feel he gave assent to what happened). He unleashed Economic Liberalism. This created a whole new order which was unwilling to kowtow to the old order. Once the genie was out of the bottle it became impossible to put it back in. And the rest as they say is history. Mauni Baba not withstanding, the old order triied every trick in the book, and who knows if they colluded to create the 26/11 mayhem.
The public had had enough of the clowns still clinging to the old order and trying to pontificate.

‘Not Happy…’, Vaishnaw Signals Tough Action If Electronics Firms Fail To Build Design Strength
The government has drawn a hard line under its electronics push, pairing fresh approvals worth thousands of crores with a blunt warning — government support will not flow to companies that treat India as a factory floor without building design muscle.

Hormuz Crisis: 19 Ships Carrying Oil & Gas for India Stranded Amid War
As the West Asia war intensifies, 19 ships carrying LPG, crude oil, and LNG for India are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. The disruption threatens energy supplies, though authorities say Indian seafarers remain safe and evacuation efforts are ongoing.

B35 bullet train: India plans 350 kmph indigenous upgrade for new high-speed corridors
Indian Railways shifts its high-speed mission to the next level by planning the indigenous B35 bullet train, a 350 kmph upgrade that follows the current manufacturing of the 280 kmph B28 trainsets at BEML’s Bengaluru complex. While the Ministry of Railways prepares the B28 for a 2027 debut on the Surat-Vapi stretch, the new B35 will serve as the standard rolling stock for seven newly sanctioned corridors spanning 4,000 kilometers across India.
