It appears that @polimernews, @NewsTamilTV24x7, and @TamilJanamNews have been removed from the Tamil Nadu government cable network.

The reason cited for the suspension of broadcasts is outstanding dues owed by the government cable corporation to the set-top box provider. If payment issues were the actual cause, why have other media outlets remained unaffected?

In particular, since these three media outlets have been consistently reporting on the problems faced by the public—such as power outages and the administrative incompetence of the TVK government—it appears that the government is acting in a vindictive manner towards them.

In a democracy, suppressing news is not the solution; this is a highly objectionable trend. I urge the TVK government to immediately restore the broadcast of these news channels on the government cable network.

A group of senior IAS officers living in New Moti Bagh, Delhi where many top bureaucrats reside.
