All reports are saying that the brave liberators did not penetrate ghq but were stopped at the very first guard post. A brigadier and a lt col were killed. Obvioulsy the guard posts are manned by very senior officers in pakiland!

The attack, which left at least 10 people dead, was the third major militant strike in Pakistan in a week and came as the government was planning an imminent offensive against Islamist militants in their strongholds in the rugged mountains along the border with Afghanistan.

It showed that the militants retain the ability to strike at the very heart of Pakistan's security apparatus despite recent military operations against their forces and the killing of Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud in a CIA drone attack in August.

An army statement said more than two terrorists were holding several officers hostage in a "security office building" inside the heavily fortified complex close to the capital.

Seriously, if a Pakbarian officer is a intelligent and not a fanatic, he is likely to be a real danger since he will be thinking with his brain and not his Mushy. The usual ones are doing a great job, funding, arming and training the very same animals who are now killing them...we need more them, alive and dead..

It's not a question of good or not good - more a matter of who you can work with, and who will be an obstacle. We need to learn from the Amreekis - they have a lot of experience in dealing with republics like Pak.

This is what I posted this noon.

It looks like some of the attackers at the GHQ, Pindi escaped.

Added later: gunshots being heard once again, possibly from escaped terrorists, around GHQ.

Looks like, the PA never caught them. There is a lot of insider help, just like in the earlier UN office attack a few days back.

Time to stop pretending to be dignified and neutral when faced with the news of the death of TSPA afsars.
You don't get to become a TSPA honcho if you have no ingrained yindoo-hatred and mass-murdering tendencies inside you.
As such, when any TSPA fauji gets a houristan dispatch, it is a joyous occasion for all of his possible victims (yup, that's you and me).

The desi news channels are 100% mum on the GHQ attack, though. Is it a 100% hoax, by any chance? Can bhuvan locate the damage in real time, just wondering....

Right. Now West is in financial crisis, and we may actually have plenty of friendly elements in Pak - Sindhis, Pashtuns, Baluchis, Shias, Balawaristanis etc. There might be sympathizers even amongst Punjabis. The question is how we can work with those who are amenable, towards a desirable solution. There could be opportunities in these fraught times.

I doubt any good or bad Pakbarian army officer wants peace with India unless he is a corrupt one running businesses on the side etc. The example given by Pranav (Alvi) was simply trying to oppose Taliban but that does not automatically mean he was for friendship with India. Perhaps all he wanted was an army thoroughly professional and dedicated to attacking India...

India should stop shedding tears for these barbarians and do all it can to keep the kettle boiling over there...until the GDP gap exceeds 10 times or more...the chance of TSP mending their ways is 0%

Desirable solution in the case of TSP is no TSP. If we cant nuke them ourselves, let them kill each other over next dozen years or so..

Is this story real or another of the ISI's nautanki to deflect the attention from the Kabul bombing.

Also, the story about senior officers being killed is from a unofficial source which looks like a planted mole. I doubt if if as much a damage has been done as they are trying to make it out to be. Fauji Abdul is trying to look like the poor victim of terrorism in need to F22 and Tomahawk missiles to kill the bad Abdul. In short, we need more, more and more from USA is the message.

That is why we should NOT condemn Pathan Freedom Fighters for their just war against GHQ. They did not target The Mall or Central Railway Station did they? They targeted only uniformed people who can fight back.

Thanks for the advice. What about those paki officers who were silent during Mumbai attacks - were they sane or insane? At this stage those officers do not have choice, by their very silence they are extremists.

This appears to be all dikhava, just to deflect attention (from what?). The GHQ Brass must be having popcorn and beer inside while acting as "hostages". They must be actually playing "hosts".

The brigadier and Lt Col were passing through the gate and were killed. I don't think the Pathan freedom fighters crossed entered the GHQ completely.No news about the Lt Gen could be PDM reporting for Lt Col.

The longer this drags out, the more opportunity for Taliban to mobilize additional assets to converge on the area. Even if Rawalpindi is a heavily guarded city, there is still plenty of opportunity for insurgents to attack.

They could even stage diversionary attacks elsewhere.
