Re: US military, technology, arms, tactics

We don't seem to have the money to place orders for the LCH. And you want India to build a strat bomber than will need a big engine and cost god knows how much.

Re: Indian Agriculture and Agro-based Industry

Exactly. If it is done once, you need to actively discourage it the next year. As we've seen in maharashtra earlier, even despite drought they continue to produce vast amounts of sugarcane. Converting them to fuel and creating a dependency of this sort will make it entirely impossible to reduce suga...

Question is whether the 117S engine is worth the price and if any additional dependency will be created since we can pretty much manage the production and maint of the current engine.

Would be interesting to find out what launcher they used. The NGARM uses an existing trapeze launcher. The MKI carries the R-27 on those hardpoints (there's a beautiful picture on BR of a fully loaded MKI with 4 x R27 and 4x R77).

Setup looks to be: ASPJs on the wing tips and DCMAWS on the outermost wing pylons. Eventual product will be a pyl...

Re: VayuSena Rafale: News and Discussions - 17 Oct 2016

Qatar's follow-on deal for 36 more Rafale aircraft cost $1.3bn in 2018. Follow on orders are a lot cheaper. If we go the g2g way for the 6 MRTTs (after failing to buy them despite 3-4 procurement process rounds), that will good. Those were around $3bn-ish. So definitely not "cheap". Sounds...
