Re: Indian Economy News & Discussion - Nov 27 2017

The govt has again and again taken the opposite approach. Note how with GST, they started off with very high rates to avoid loss, and then brought down the rates as revenue grew. The right approach would have been to start with low rates (ensuring better compliance as well as promoting growth) and ...

He must have a time machine in his garage. Re: J&K Union Territory-2019

Vast majority of Sikhs never supported this idea until 1984, when they were lynched all over India by Bajrang Dal thugs and made to feel unwanted in their own country. Sumair, Can you provide the source for your statement? I do remember someone making a statement in 1984, when a big tree falls, the...

Re: Articles 370 and 35A Repealed, J&K and Ladakh to be Separate Union Territories

No, as PM, it is reasonable to give some sense to the nation as to what his plans are to counter TSP's machinations. The PM is speaking on J&K reorganisation Act, which is India's internal matter. So why involve Pakistan? And why just Pakistan? Why not China/USA/ ....? Should he speak about the...

Even Shaw is an opening batsman. But yes, he is good. The problem with taking him as a middle order batsman is that as soon as an opener starts failing, there will be constant refrain for him to made an opener. And then the middle order will back to being brittle. But yes not including Kedar Jadhav ...

Re: Indian Sports and Entertainment Industry

the problem in 50 over matches is that the top 3 (and 4) get enough time to settle down and then score runs. Players who come after top 3/4 do not have such a luxury as they have to take risks to score runs fast. So will be difficult to find a perfect middle order batsman with a top order heavy team.

the agenda after 70+ years is still around cow, Ram and freebies. Yes Congress played major role in it. But BJP is trying to kill that diversity. All the advances in space, IT, manufacturing, Start-ups etc has to be decided by these same emotions. Since people get riled up and keep on parroting abo...

I am sure that would be an oxymoron. Pakistan's political PMs have never been in charge. So how can he deliver on anything.

Re: Indian Railways Thread (Dec 2015)

I do not feel building a wall would solve the problem. I live on the outskirts of Delhi and there is a railway crossing quite close. It was a manual crossing. 2-3 years back, an underpass was built. It was only used by vehicles. People on foot or two wheeler still used to cross the railway line. A f...
