Prem Kumar ji, thanks. But the first variant of Oniks is 600-700 km as per several sources including wikipedia. Only recently we developed 450 km range extension of Brahmos. I wonder why?Prem Kumar wrote: ↑21 Oct 2025 11:42 Two points
1) Brahmos is a much more versatile & lethal missile thank Oniks - significant intellectual property was developed and deployed to make the missile versatile. Many variations: steep-dive, air-launched, ECCM, land-attack variant etc were all developed for Brahmos that was not available in Oniks
2) There was reverse-tech-transfer. Learnings from Brahmos was ported over to Oniks. The original range of Oniks was not 800 Km. Their Oniks-M variant has the 800 Km range and incorporates technologies that were learnt from Brahmos

See the DRDO poster of LR-AShM . See the previous X post by the above person to see the enhanced image. In image the missile initially travels a bit over 100 km in altitude and then quickly dive to around 50 km altitude horizontal flight till target. Also remember that Haridas had mentioned that real range would be around 2500-3000km. Link below. As per my calculation, if their is radar on ship, let's say aircraft carrier, it's radar will most probably first detected our missile at about 300kms. Missile is flying at 6-7 mach. It will take about would need approximately 147 sec (at Mach 6). AC would cover 2.34kms.

Range of 2500 to 3000 stated in infograph is correct .
So about 4 ton booster solid fuel and 700 kg main rocket.

Just curious: with entire threads dedicated to things like Light Tanks and Missiles, why isn't there a dedicated thread for drones? Shouldn't there be an "Indian Drone Warfare" thread?

Indian Army to buy 2,408 Nag Mark 2 anti-tank guided missiles
https://www.aninews.in/news/national/ge ... 022210243/
In what would be a major success for indigenous weapon systems, the Indian Army is set to place a major order for 2.408 Nag Mark 2anti-tank guided missiles with 107 NAMICA tracked vehicles. The Nag Mark-2, along with the NAMICA 2 vehicle, is an advanced version of the previous system and includes a large number of changes and improvements suggested by the users. "The Indian Army is all set to place orders for 2,408 Nag Mark 2 ATGMS along with 107 NAMICA vehicles. The Defence Ministry is likely to give clearance to the Army proposal in an important meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council scheduled to be held on October 23," defence sources.
The missiles are produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited. The field evaluation trials of the indigenously developed Nag Mark 2, ATGM, which is a third-generation Anti-Tank Fire-and-Forget Guided Missile, were successfully conducted in January this year at Pokhran Field Range in the presence of senior officers of the Indian Army. During the three field trials, the missile systems had destroyed precisely all the targets, maximum and minimum range, validating their firing range. The Nag Missile Carrier version 2 was also evaluated during the trials, and after that, the entire weapon system was readied for induction into the Indian Army by the DRDO along with its production agencies.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have been pushing for the induction of indigenous weapon systems to promote self-reliance in military hardware. Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi has also been promoting self-reliance in the force and has been stressing the importance of homegrown weapons to fight wars of future.

So the recent news about 200 km Astra being readied soon compared to the 160 km dual pulse variant is correct. There could be 2 solid fuel variants, dual or triple pulse. Source given below.

The above link contains the schematic of triple pulse with indicator of time for each pulse and interval. This technology is what could push the Astra MK2s range beyond 200 KMs. The development of Three Pulse solid rocket motors, would mean that the ER variant of the MK2 would have enough energy to hit maneuverable targets at greater range during the end Game.
