Powgam Police Station Explosion

Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs J&K Division Prashant Lokhande says,:
"Yesterday, on 14th November at 11:20 PM, in an unfortunate accidental incident, a massive explosion took place inside the Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir. The Nowgam police cracked the case of a terror module... During the investigation of FIR 162 of 2025, a huge cache of explosive substances and chemicals were recovered. The recovery was kept securely in an open area of the police station. All the agencies involved in the investigation are working together in a coordinated and scientific manner. As a part of standard and prescribed procedure, the recovered chemical and explosive samples were being forwarded for further forensic and chemical examination. Due to voluminous recovery, the process was continuously attended for about last 2 days by following the said SOP. Owing to unstable and sensitive nature of the recovery, it was being handled very carefully under the expert supervision. However, during the process, an accidental explosion took place at about 11.20 PM yesterday night. In this unfortunate accidental incident, 9 people have lost their lives whereas 27 police personnel, 2 revenue officials and 3 civilians have received injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to medical care and attention. The building of the police station has received severe damages... The cause of the incident is being investigated however, any other speculation into the cause of this incident is unnecessary. The government stands in solidarity with the families of the deceased.

>>> Investigators believe the suspect improperly assembled the Improvised Explosive Device (IED), resulting in a blast that failed to cause maximum damage. Why would you store the confiscated explosives at a police station? If it's explosives, you keep it at a proper explosives handling facility. Any inspection should be done with remote operated robots or a trained person properly suited in explosion resistant armour. This is so bad and incompetent, we're doing the terrorists a favour by blowing ourselves up. There's also a possibility that the perpetrators, once their explosives have been confiscated by the police, they layed back and waited until enough people were gathered around to inspect it and then they remotely triggered the detonation. They were watching the police station.

Just for some data wrt ammonium nitrate bums

In lebanon in 2020 during covid lockdown over 2000 kgs of amomnium nitrate exploded killing over 200+ people with over estimated 3 billion looses to ifrastrcuture and buidings roads etc. The shockwaves caused 3.5 earthquake on richter scale. the shockwaves recahed cyprus island about 200 kms away .

Because of covid lockdown the casulaties were far less.

This is the largest NON NUKE explosion in modern world.

acidental explosion due to improper storage in a faciity for over 6 years.

-----------------------------
these terr0sist had over 2900- 3200 kgs of ammoium nitrate. Of course they wanted to explode the bum in multiple places hence less big bum but nevertheless the scale is unprecedented and mind boggling.

There is no covid lockdown and Delhi is a very crowded city and bustling with people all the time .

few things to understand---

Every living being esp multicellular and more complex organisms like deer tigers cats dogs cattle etc have lot of emotions. They take care of their own and fight with others to their strenght possible.

These anulams dont have any ideologies to create hatred except live and eat and reproduce.

They do fight to death at times like in mating , fighting over territories etc .But NEVER of HATE.

Their brains are not wired for hatred. they dont have the neo cortex to think too much and create barries amingts themselves
---------------------------------------------------

Only Humans are briliant no doubt with their infinte capacity to think and observe certain things much beyond normal animals.

This is both a boon and bane.

Boon with science and tech and many other good stuff in life.

The very brilliant human mind sadly -- uses emotions to channelise hate others thru ideology . Here the followers follow like blind animals to internalise the hatred into their own software systems inside their brains.

nonsense

i knew from 8th grade chemistry that this is unstable explosive.

unfortunately occupational safety is not ingrained in sarkari culture and police need better training etc. why was magistrate handling the explosive?

this needs to be handled in an airtight anti static container housed in an explosive resistant building. such facilities exist in multiple placed in india . the police station just had a small ground where they stored this.

The explosives were confiscated from Faridabad during raids on November 9-10 and later transported to Kashmir in a Tata 407 vehicle in small bags following full protocol, the top official said. On the reason behind transporting the explosives to Nowgam, the official said the original case was registered at the Nowgam police station and the explosives were the case property of that police station. Hence, there was a need to transport the explosives so far.
Makes zero sense to me. If RBI's gold can be held in vaults in England for years, why can't explosives evidence be stored in an appropriate nearby and safe place to where they were seized and in the custody of the local authorities? What matters is the forensic reports on the explosives. Unlike a gun or such, it is hardly going to be produced in court - "can you identify this ammonium nitrate?" Any specific labels or containers that can be identified can be sent, empty, to the original police station, if necessary. And personnel from Nowgam can be sent to the Faridabad vicinity to do whatever examination needs to be done in person.

I can understand the transport of other types of physical evidence; but not of explosives, chemical weapons, radioactive weapons, biological weapons and such. I hope the authorities change the rules/regulations/laws concerning these specific types of evidence.

Surgeon detained from Pathankot in Delhi blast case
He had previously worked at Al Falah University in Faridabad district, to which the prime suspects in the case were also linked

https://newsarenaindia.com/states/surge ... case/62284
Investigating agencies detained a doctor from Pathankot in Punjab for questioning in connection with the Delhi blast case. The 45-year-old surgeon has been working at a private medical college and hospital in Pathankot for more than two years.

He had previously worked at Al Falah University in Haryana's Faridabad district, to which the prime suspects in the "white collar terror module" case were also linked.

Two doctors from Nuh district of Haryana had been detained for questioning in connection with the case on Friday. One of them did his apprenticeship at Al Falah University after completing his MBBS course. His apprenticeship ended on November 2. The other doctor, a former student of the university, was working with a private hospital in Nuh.

Thanks. The significance of the Beirut data, especially in the context of the previous discussion about the Indian terror module, is in the scale of the explosive threat:

Nowgam Seizure: The terror module's total seizure was around 3,000 kg (3 metric tons) of Ammonium Nitrate.

Beirut Explosion: The Beirut blast involved 2,750,000 kg (2,750 metric tons).

While both involved the same chemical, the Beirut explosion was caused by a quantity nearly 1,000 times larger than the maximum amount seized in India, illustrating the difference between a military-grade disaster and a typical large IED terror threat. The comparison demonstrates the catastrophic potential when a massive amount of Ammonium Nitrate is improperly stored or detonates.

Confinement + fuel (ANFO / ANNM) can multiply the energy dramatically. (OK city bombing was estimated eq to about ~3–4 tonnes TNT. (VBID/AFNO/Fuel type typically 8-10x time industrial AN wait wise)

What was used (per reports ) at Delhi Triacetone Triperoxide (TATP)- Called “Mother of Satan”.

^^^ Per reports.. I(nvestigators now believe the Delhi Red Fort car blast may have involved TATP, the explosive known as “Mother of Satan.”

- TATP is extremely unstable and can explode from heat, friction, or pressure, without a detonator.
.-The car was driven by Dr. Umar Mohammad, suspected to have links with Jaish-e-Mohammad.
-Police first suspected ammonium nitrate, but forensics now focus on TATP residue.
- The blast pattern at the site is consistent with a peroxide-based explosive like TATP.
-TATP has been used in major global attacks: Paris 2015, Brussels 2016, Manchester 2017, Barcelona 2017.
-Umar may have been transporting the explosive for a larger terror operation when it detonated.

Red Fort attack preparation in the works for 3 years

The Hindustan Times article reveals that the Red Fort bombing was the culmination of at least three years of meticulous planning by a self-radicalized terror module led by three doctors from Pulwama. The investigation found that the terrorists had foreign contact in Turkey and devised a low-temperature explosive mix, raising major concern for Indian intelligence agencies. The primary security threat is identified as the difficulty in tracking these homegrown jihadist modules that rely on social media for radicalization and often leave no electronic trace, forcing agencies to broaden their counter-terror focus beyond cross-border threats.

TOI Story:
ED raids Al-Falah University; searches at 25 locations across Delhi-NCR

NDTV: The investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the Delhi suicide attack revealed that the involved "white collar terror module" had initially planned a more sophisticated, Hamas-like attack using weaponized drones before resorting to the car bomb blast. The arrested terror suspect, Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, was allegedly responsible for providing technical support, including attempting to modify and weaponize drones with larger batteries to carry heavier explosive payloads. This foiled plan, which drew parallels to the Hamas attack against Israel in October 2023 that used drones for disruption, underscores the evolving threat where terrorists seek to utilize aerial technology for mass casualties in crowded areas.

Delhi terror module planned Hamas-style drone attack before Red Fort blast, NIA reveals
https://www.opindia.com/news-updates/de ... a-reveals/

Investigators probing the Delhi suicide car bomb attack have stumbled upon an alarming expansion of the terror plot: the white-collar module behind the strike was allegedly preparing to weaponise drones and fabricate crude rockets ahead of the November 10 blast near the Red Fort.

According to officials, the plan carried chilling echoes of the October 7, 2023 Hamas assault on Israel, where explosive-laden drones were used to overwhelm defences and unleash widespread destruction.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) unearthed this new dimension to the conspiracy after arresting a second accused believed to have worked closely with suicide bomber Umar Un Nabi. The suspect, Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, a resident of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, was picked up by an NIA team in Srinagar, just a day after the agency arrested another accomplice, Amir Rashid Ali, from Delhi.Investigators probing the Delhi suicide car bomb attack have stumbled upon an alarming expansion of the terror plot: the white-collar module behind the strike was allegedly preparing to weaponise drones and fabricate crude rockets ahead of the November 10 blast near the Red Fort.

The suspect, Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, a resident of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, was picked up by an NIA team in Srinagar, just a day after the agency arrested another accomplice, Amir Rashid Ali, from Delhi.

In its statement, the NIA said Danish played a key technical role, assisting the module by attempting to modify commercially available drones to carry heavier explosive payloads and by experimenting with rudimentary rockets. He is accused of being an “active co-conspirator” who helped the group scale up its capabilities beyond the suicide car bomb.

Sources familiar with the investigation said Danish had been trying to design high-endurance drones fitted with larger batteries, capable of lifting substantial explosive charges while transmitting live visuals through onboard cameras. He reportedly has prior experience building small weaponised drones, now viewed as a major red flag by counter-terror agencies.

The module allegedly intended to fly a weaponised drone over a densely populated area, aiming for mass casualties. Investigators noted that similar tactics have been seen in conflict zones ranging from Gaza to Syria, where terror groups have used modified drones to devastating effect.

An old pic of Umer Nabi.

Dr. Umer Un Nabi, the 35-year-old doctor behind the November 10, 2025, Red Fort car blast that killed 13 and injured over 30, recorded a disturbing video days before the attack, casually justifying suicide bombings as "martyrdom operations" in Islam while calling the concept misunderstood and unacceptable in civilized society. The footage, recovered by investigators and aired on ABP News on November 17, shows him alone in a room, revealing deep radicalization that negated any chance of an accidental detonation and confirmed his deliberate intent as the Jaish-e-Mohammed module's bomb expert.

J Sai Deepak Exclusive On Delhi Car Blast: 'Time To Bust Myth That Poverty & Terror Go Hand In Hand'
J. Sai Deepak Exclusive Interview With Navika Kumar: Author & senior advocate J. Sai Deepak spoke exclusively with Times Now's Navika Kumar over the car blast in Delhi. J. Sai Deepak said, "It appears that what happened is probably the result of someone panicking because of the extensive operations that were undertaken. People on the ground are often from poorer families, but those who plan, have vision and an agenda, and possess the capability to brainwash and radicalize don’t necessarily come from poor backgrounds. In the last 11 years, we’ve tried everything—given them computers and whatnot—but we haven’t managed to change the fundamental problem. We’re still beating around the bush...There’s a particular mentality that knows no boundaries, respects no geography, and isn’t defined by economic status. We’ve long been under the delusion that only poverty radicalizes people. I hope we come out of that deep Kumbhakarna slumber — that was never the case. This perpetual 'minority victimhood' cottage industry in the country needs to end. It’s time to say—enough is enough. It’s time to bust the myth that poverty and terror go hand in hand, and I don’t think education has had any impact on this mindset." Watch the video to know more.
