An insidious article.
The timing is suspicious. Chatham House is helping Pakistan capitalise on its new “peace credentials”.
The usual pro- Pak games by the British establishment.
Article advocates external intervention to unblock India’s suspension of the Treaty.
Totally ignores the reasons why India was forced to suspend it.
Even the Pahalgam attack is described as “ militancy” not terrorism.
Pakistan is absolved of involvement by taking its denial at face value.
The word “ terrorism” is not mentioned in the article at all.
India’s complaints about Pakistan using all means to prevent or delay Indian power projects allowed by the Treaty on rivers allotted to Pakistan is not mentioned in the article.
India’s warnings over a period that blood and water can’t go together are not mentioned either.
India’s willingness to overlook repeated terrorist attacks by Pakistan and adhere to the Treaty is not recognised.
The article makes the following claim that flies in the face of reality. Pakistan’s visceral hostility towards India has endured despite the one- sided Indus Waters Treaty.
“ For more than six decades, it proved remarkably durable and acted as a stabilizing force for broader India-Pakistan relations.”
When has there been stability in India- Pakistan ties?

MEA Presses Iran To Ensure Unimpeded Passage After Attack On Indian-Linked Ship In Hormuz
India has expressed deep concern after Indian-linked merchant ships came under attack in West Asia. Speaking in Colombo, Foreign Secy Vikram Misri said New Delhi immediately contacted Iranian authorities and urged them to ensure the safety of mariners and free movement through international waterways. He said the conflict is affecting India through energy supplies and the safety of nearly 10 million Indians living in Gulf countries. India reiterated that sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected and called for dialogue, de-escalation and protection of civilians. Misri stressed that India is especially disturbed because Indian sailors have already been killed and remain missing in earlier attacks.

Vizhinjam Port | Hormuz Crisis Boost: Vizhinjam Emerges As India’s Strategic Shipping Lifeline
As tensions in the Strait of Hormuz disrupt global shipping lanes, India's Vizhinjam International Seaport is rapidly emerging as a critical alternative. Located just 10 nautical miles from a major international shipping route, the deepwater port is witnessing an unprecedented surge in demand, with over 100 vessels seeking berthing access.
Developed by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, Vizhinjam is India's first deepwater transshipment hub and is now being seen as a viable fallback as Gulf routes face disruption. However, capacity constraints are already visible - dozens of ships have reportedly been turned away due to limited docking space.
With Phase 2 expansion underway and expected to be completed by 2028, the port aims to handle up to five large mother ships simultaneously, putting it in direct competition with global hubs like Port of Colombo and Port of Singapore.
At a time of mounting uncertainty in global supply chains, Vizhinjam's strategic location in the Indian Ocean is transforming it from an ambitious infrastructure project into a key player in global maritime trade.

India's ₹18,100 Cr Battery Bet FAILED - Only 2.8% Delivered While China Owns Every Cell
Four years ago, India committed ₹18,100 crore to building a domestic lithium battery industry under the Advanced Chemistry Cell PLI scheme. The target: 50 GWh of homegrown capacity by 2025.
The reality: 1.4 GWh, that's 2.8% of what was promised. Ola Electric, the only company to deliver any output, just revised its ambition from 20 GWh to 5. Meanwhile, Indian EV demand is exploding, 24.5 lakh units in FY26, electric cars up 83%, projected battery demand of 210 GWh by 2030. The supply gap is real, and India still imports 100% of its cells.
In this Front Page, we break down what went wrong, who's actually building (Tata Agratas, Exide, Amara Raja, and others outside the scheme), and where the real opportunity now lies.

Re: Modi 3.0 - Bharat
The path may not be straight forward. A land-mark case "Berubari Union Case", in which Supreme Court stated that Constituitional amendment is needed to cede Indian territory. Where as in the 1970s, Indira Ghandi did not bother with such amendments when Union Government ceded Kachatheevu Island to Sri Lanka through the 1974 Indira Gandhi–Sirimavo Bandaranaike Agreement. So the process can be complex and also politically challenging (as loss of territory can be called a defeat).

J. Sai Deepak's Powerful Argument in Sabarimala Review: Defending Religious Freedom
J. Sai Deepak’s Masterclass in the Supreme Court: The Ultimate Defense of Temple Rights & Traditions!
In this historic Supreme Court hearing dated April 21, 2026, Advocate J. Sai Deepak delivers a brilliant and hard-hitting argument before the 9-judge Constitution Bench led by CJI Surya Kant in the highly anticipated Sabarimala Review Case.
Stepping up to defend the ancient traditions of the Sabarimala Temple and the rights of Hindu devotees, J. Sai Deepak breaks down the complex intersection of Constitutional Law and Religious Freedom. He rigorously challenges the interference of the State and the Judiciary in matters of faith, raising profound questions about the true meaning of secularism and constitutional morality in India.
Key Highlights of J. Sai Deepak's Argument in this Video:
Article 25 vs. Article 26: A deep dive into the clash between individual rights to worship and the collective right of a religious denomination to manage its own affairs.
The "Essential Religious Practice" (ERP) Test: Why secular courts should not act as ecclesiastical authorities to determine what is "essential" to a religion.
Deity's Rights: The unique legal status of Lord Ayyappa as a Naishtika Brahmachari (eternal celibate) and how the nature of the deity dictates the rules of the temple.
Constitutional Morality: A fierce critique of using modern "constitutional morality" to rewrite centuries-old indigenous religious doctrines.
Temple Autonomy: Protecting Hindu temples from excessive state control and judicial overreach.
This video is a must-watch for law students, legal professionals, and anyone interested in the protection of indigenous faith, temple rights, and the Indian Constitution.

Cheese from India makes its mark globally…
India made an impressive debut at the Mundial do Queijo do Brasil 2026, which is a vibrant international competition for cheese and dairy products. Four Indian products won medals, including 1 Super Gold, 2 Golds and 1 Silver.
The Super Gold was won by Eleftheria Gulmarg (Brie Style), the Golds were won by Yak Churpi-Soft, Nordic Farm, Leh, Ladakh and Eleftheria Brunost (Whey Cheese) while the Silver was won by Eleftheria Kaali Miri (Belper Knolle Style). Congratulations to Mausam Narang and Thenlay Nurboo.
Such successes strengthen India’s artisanal dairy sector on the world stage.

Some broad-stroke takeaways from the ground at the end of my travels in West Bengal:
1. ‘Poribortan’ (change) is the big buzzword this election across the state. There is significant anti-incumbency against the Mamata Banerjee regime, which is not unexpected after 15 years of being in power. Some of it is spurred by anger, some by disappointment, and some by sheer voter fatigue and boredom.
2. BJP, being the main opposition, is the obvious beneficiary of this anti-incumbency sentiment. The lack of an overt CM face doesn’t seem to matter much on the ground & most voters assume it is Suvendu Adhikari. Modi, meanwhile, remains the main face & the name synonymous with the party.
3. Voter anger against the TMC stems from many factors, a key one being the lack of development - “unnayan darakar” (development is needed) - is an oft-heard phrase, as voters compare West Bengal to neighbouring Odisha to point towards the difference.
4. Lack of industry and, consequently, rampant unemployment is a major pain point. Several voters say they feel education is being wasted with no jobs available in the state.
5. Voters are also upset with poor medical and health facilities, with many pointing towards the need to travel to other states for treatment.
6. Crumbling law & order situation and lack of safety for women have emerged as big conversation points, especially fuelled by the RG Kar violent crime. This has somewhat dented Mamata Banerjee’s image of being a pro-woman leader.
7. ‘Cut money’, essentially denoting corruption at the grassroots, is perhaps the most talked about negative of this govt, with voters alleging even the poor are not spared by local leaders and lower tiers of the administration.
8. An interesting complaint is how Mamata Banerjee seems to have simply perpetuated the Left model, which the voters voted out in 2011, instead of bringing in her own vision. “Wahan ka log sab yahan aa gaya (their cadre have shifted here)” is a common refrain.
9. There is a section of voters that isn’t really angry or upset but is just bored. “It’s been 15 years now. Why not give someone else a chance,” they say. It is this section that Banerjee perhaps has some chance of converting even now.
10. Bengal’s beloved ‘didi’ herself really isn’t unpopular even today. The disenchantment is largely with the rank and file of Trinamool Congress. Many voters say it isn’t Mamata, but the lower rung leaders that they have a problem with.
11. The demographics are a big advantage for Mamata Banerjee. Thanks to the BJP’s polarising & majoritarian brand of politics, the minority community in recent times has voted en masse for the party best placed to defeat it. In West Bengal, Muslims form 27-30 per cent of the electorate and seem to be rallying steadfastly behind Banerjee. In that sense, TMC starts with a nearly 30 per cent lead.
12. West Bengal elections have always been complex & layered due to an entrenched cadre culture & history of political violence. TMC cadre remains tentacled & powerful & that is a key point voters raise — the possibility of intimidation. Voters claim that if that happens, the outcome may be vastly different.
13. SIR deletions have caused some confusion on the ground & the ECI ought to have timed it better. Those struck off the rolls blame the BJP & EC of being in cahoots.
14. BJP’s brazenly communally charged ‘infiltrator’ rhetoric seems to have found some traction in West Bengal, more than in Assam, where the issue is of ethnicity.
15. Women voters — Mamata Banerjee’s backbone — prove one point - this is now a fast-evolving electorate & will soon ask the question of ‘what next’. Her flagship & once hugely popular Lakshmir Bhandar seems to have run its course with many now talking about more sustainable forms of livelihood as well as better infrastructure.
16. There is little left of the Left & it is hard to say what the Congress is up to in the state.

“Should CM Be Accountable?” Author Anand Ranganathan on SC Rap To Mamata Banerjee | THF | News18
Amid the controversy over the Supreme Court of India rapping Mamata Banerjee for alleged interference in the I-PAC probe, Anand Ranganathan has raised questions on accountability. He argued that if the court has made such observations, the Chief Minister should be held answerable.
In a heated debate, Ranganathan also criticized what he described as “double standards” in the justice system, suggesting that an ordinary citizen might have faced stricter consequences in a similar situation. The remarks have added fuel to the ongoing political and legal debate in West Bengal.

Chadha along with 6 other RS MPs of AAP join the BJP. This includes Maliwal. Let us see if the LS MPs also try the same move.
Raghavan was known for his juvenility. It looks like the hormones have settled down and clear thinking has taken its place. Saved himself from being chewed up and spit out by Dashakantha aka Kejriwal.

Arnab's Sharp, Pointed Doubts Over Raghav Chadha's Credentials | Raghav Chadha Quits AAP, Joins BJP
A political storm erupts as Arnab raises sharp questions over Raghav Chadha’s dramatic exit from the AAP and his shifting loyalties. Pointing to his close association with Arvind Kejriwal, Arnab questions the credibility of such a sudden U-turn and whether the BJP can truly trust a leader who once held key positions within the party. He also probes claims of MLAs being in touch, asking whether Chadha can actually deliver numbers or is overstating his influence.
Turning the spotlight on the larger crisis within the Aam Aadmi Party, Arnab highlights a pattern of high-profile exits and raises concerns over leadership structure and internal trust. With allegations, investigations, and political realignments colliding, the bigger question remains, is this a turning point for AAP’s stability, and how will the Bharatiya Janata Party navigate this high-stakes political shift?

Bengal में अचानक UP से Encounter Expert को क्यों भेजना पड़ा? Yogi Model Reaches Bengal Already?
The unimaginable has just happened in Bengal! In a mere 24 hours, a 74-year-old democratic record has been completely shattered. Who triggered this massive political earthquake?
Enter IPS Ajay Pal Sharma. The Election Commission just airdropped Uttar Pradesh's most feared encounter specialist—Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Singham’—straight into the most volatile election battleground in India. The results? Absolute, undeniable dominance!
West Bengal is witnessing a massive 92% voter turnout explosion. For decades, fear ruled the streets. Today, voters are charging out of their homes, utterly fearless. Why? Because the central forces are standing like an impenetrable fortress. When local goons attempted their old bomb-throwing tactics in Murshidabad, the retaliation was brutal and instant. The attackers didn't capture booths; they captured hospital beds!
But the groundwork for this massive shift was laid by two roaring lions: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Their explosive, no-nonsense rallies injected raw courage into the public. Yogi issued a chilling warning to the mafias, while Himanta openly challenged anyone threatening Sanatan Dharma. Add Home Minister Amit Shah's high-tech Kolkata war room monitoring every inch of the state, and the opposition is left in total panic.
Even the infamous Satta Bazaar (betting markets) in Phalodi and Kolkata are predicting a historic, devastating landslide. The tables haven't just turned; they have been destroyed. The UP Model has officially landed, and the upcoming phases are about to be even more explosive.
